Yesterday's Condo

Shadow is of to a nice start this morning! I noticed some bald spots on his neck and there are some little red spots too. It's higher on the neck than where I inject him so while they look just like needle marks, I know they are NOT. He is having a cleansing session this morning and I am amazed at how intent he is on keeping his fur clean. Well, ok it is a little like OCD and now it is something I am going to watch. I should have named him Howard Hughes :lol:

New dose has been given for 2 cycles and so far, nothing spectacular has happened. Today I will give him mini meals at +2 , +3 and +5 and see if it helps anything. He seems to have changed his nadir...is that normal? It is not at +8 recently...I don't understand him too well at all. Hope you all have a Happy Friday Eve today! :razz:

you are right, not a bad start to the day! I hope those red marks aren't anything serious on him ...Isn't it crazy the stuff we notice? I hope some action starts happening on the new dose soon!

Yes, Good Morning and good start for your little guy. Mags has small pimple lump on her ear from the prick, so I'm trying the other ear which doesn't want to cooperate. Hope the spots are nothing to worry about and neosporin helps,

I noticed a red spot on Tugger's face that I'm keeping an eye on. It's probably from Echo when they play whack-a-whack in the kitchen, they do it every day while I prep the foods. I think they may be arguing about who gets to be first. Tugger will always win the fight if it's over foods though :lol: I'll still keep an eye on it though. Cuz that's what we do.

The marks are probably from Raja -she's been trying to beat some sense into him so he'll cooperate and give you better numbers all the time! She's like, dude, it's not that hard and if you cooperate you can go OTJ! :lol:

Could it be an allergic reaction? To a collar, perhaps. Basil used to wear a flea collar, but he was allergic to it. His hair fell off in places and has never grown back!

Shadow got little mini meals at both of the above hours. I noticed that Raja has a couple of those little red marks on her neck too. Either it was the two of them wrestling or it was the beef in the food, OR I have a problem with invisible fleas. I see no sign of those disgusting little horrible things. I had suspicions about the beef so I will eliminate that even in combo. (I had just given them plain beef and then some that were beef & chicken.) It's always something, right? :YMSIGH: Doesn't seem to upset either of them so i will just eliminate the beef and keep watch on it.
Have been looking for Carolyn & Latte all morning so I could link their last condo....I hope Latte was feeling better last night...Carolyn...hello wherever you are! :YMHUG:

Sounds like an allergy to me also. Can't imagine what else it WOULD be.

I hope the new dose kicks in also. I hate waiting for that to happen, although with Alex I rarely have to wait for anything to happen...it just never lasts too long :lol: confused_cat confused_cat confused_cat (unjinx unjinx I was just kidding) :roll:

any new cleaning products or detergents being used?
do you have a flea comb? if not, do you have a comb - just to give some swipes and see if you find any flea dirt.

of course it could be food related....

I do have the flea comb and didn't see anything. The vet said it was fleas...the tech combed and said no after she used the comb.
I do know fleas after living on Cape Cod and I know that they can be a problem here too. But I would see some evidence of them if my two had them. I don't. So that's why I am thinking it's the food.

I hadn't given them beef in all these months and just started with the FF beef. I noticed the skin thing on Raja after that and even with the Sohpistacat stuff it seems to be the same. i will stop giving them that and see what happens. I have a FB friend request in to you from Raja's page!! I just set it up and need to find anyone else that I haven't seen on FB. Don't know anyone's real name, ya know? Can you suggest some to me? Thx!

Raja said that Maui's condo is gorgeous and is quite the party spot! LOL. Too funny. She just wishes that her brother would hurry up and move there too! Good to see you Hill...thanks for coming by!! :YMHUG:

Nice start to Shadow's day, except for the little marks.
I hate when these kitties get strange things going on and figuring it out
is such a challenge.
I have never seen fleas or flea bit so I can't help you there.
Hope it clears up soon.

I hope you figure out the source of those red marks! Kitty has a patch behind his ear - I figured he scratched it, but it's kind of bald now too.

That FF beef! Ever since the new label FF beef seemed to raise Kitty's numbers, I have withheld all beef. I think Kitty misses the taste, but his numbers have been better without it. If you find a great new food, I'd love to hear about it.

I have been using the Sophistacat Supreme from Petsmart lately. They seemed to stop liking the FF.
So, just today I am trying the regular larger 5.5oz can of Turkey & Giblets. It's supposed to have 0carbs (fat=62). I had given them the Sophistcat SupremeTurkey & Giblets in the smaller cans which has 5 (fat=55)
They seem to be enjoying the Sophistacat. I am going to try the 5.5oz can of Country Style next...1carb (fat=65) I was trying to get lower fat content for Raja.
I had gotten the Supreme Beef & the Supreme Beef & Chicken a couple of weeks ago but I am going to stop feeding the beef. I also got them Seafood Supreme which they get on Sundays. :razz:
I have also been mixing some raw in with the canned. I use the Feline Future powder and I like it very much. They seem to not mind it too so it's working out well.
ETA: Who is it who is feeding By Nature? I forget...is it Checkers? My brain is like a sieve...do we have the particulars on that brand somewhere? No, it was Spot and Tess and Tugger and Do Lou and Stu...wow. Have to go ask their Mamas about it!

Ralph and Spot LOVE the Sophisticat stuff...I don't get the supreme, just the regular...nice low carbs and all. So I hope it's just a food allergy that you can figure out how to deal with it.

I hope Shadow decides he would like to give out some lower yeller numbers at some point in time today...ya hear me, Shadow?????

Hey, Pat, just was in Kathy & Kitty's condo and noticed you mentioned the By Nature food. I use it for Spot...I thought I'd try a better quality food for him when he was doing his OTJ trial. He loves it! I usually get the By Nature Organics, but have also used the 95% free stuff. It's a good brand of food, at least, that's my opinion.

ETA: I don't think there are any numbers on it, so I can't give you the carb intake.

Pat, looked at the label for the organics and it includes guar gum, locust bean and carrageenan gum, which are the fourth, fifth, and sixth ingredients, so there is some sugar in there...

Hey Shadow! Lower numbers, man, lower numbers. Do it for your bean, who loves you! My favorite food at the moment is "By Nature" 95% Turkey & Turkey liver. It's great! I also have tried the By Nature organic chicken & turkey, but I don't like it as much. They sell it at Petsmart.

P.S. to Pat: I think carageenen and the other things you mentioned are stabilizers or preservatives. If a food says it's 95% meat, it has to be that. The "By Nature" website is interesting.
I can't help you with the little red dots, but they do sound like bites, maybe flea bites, maybe ant bites? Our Alice (GA) had fleas once but I don't remember red dots. We did have flea eggs all over the house and I had to vacuum every day for 6 months and throw away the vacuum bag after each vacuuming! (I didn't want to use pesticides.) It was awful!

Has anyone ever had fleas where they do not see one flea anywhere? It's like NO Seeums or something. There doesn't seem to be a trace of any creatures around here....little tiny scabs on the back of his neck only. But I suppose if he has been scratching back there it could be from that. I am guessing some sort of allergy. Thanks guys....

Ugh it grosses me out just READING about flees.. I can't stop itching..and I've never even seen a flee. I assume they must exist up here.. but even when I had outdoor cats I never ran into them thank goodness.

Lots of tests today.. might be a good day for a graph picture ;).

And Shadow.. your mom has a bunch of yummy food ready for you.. come on down and get some :).

Took him so long to get down to blues. I have to admit, i didn't see that coming after +8 passed and he was still in the mid 200s. Just goes to show ya! Gave him a 3 hour break and boom!

He is still trying to lick the back of his neck. I don't know how he can get back as far as he does. No shoulders~that's how. He looks like the girl from the Exorcist....turning his head all the way around!!! :o
I tried putting some hemorrhoid ointment on it. (vet said it stops the itching) But he is still busy licking and preening. I hope his skin doesn't feel crawly...that wouldn't be too nice for him. (he has a very long tongue. :o ) OMG. I never saw such a long tongue!
It's going to be a long night. I just feel it in my bones.
 
I looked the "gums" up on line and they are all used as binders. I noticed that the guar gum and the locust bean gum have some type of sugar in it. It probably isn't that much tho.
 
Pat--Sorry I threw you into a tizzy re: fleas :evil: --But I was a groomer way back when & saw a lot of bites..It was just a suggestion, but some animals are allergic to the flea saliva, so even after the flea jumps off, the irritation is still there--
It may not be this at all, but I had to ask--

Not a tizzy....but it grosses some people out. I really hate ticks more than I hate fleas...UGH

But seriously, I would see fleas if there were any here. He doesn't go outside either so I am doing the process of elimination. Thanks Ronnie....

No kidding it kicked in! Had to paste that am cycle in my graph generator :). If I could draw a little skier checking out that double black-diamond run I would have :).
