Max was meowing a lot. Recheck early showed why. Hopefully all that food slowed him down just enough that I can get to the gym but I'm thinking lot since I wouldn't get back until +5. Thankfully it looks like I won't need PT due to the accident but I think exercising is helping to keep the muscle severe spasms away.

Thanks for checking in Molly and Julie.

i didn't realize you'd had an accident - sounds like you're having problems from it. what happened?

yesterday my DH was mentioning that he thinks this computer is from 2009. o_O i didn't realize it was that old - we've gone through several laptops and it's hard to keep track of when we got a new one. we're down to just this one, plus a really old desktop in our basement downstairs that acts as a server. I never use it though. That one belonged to my folks and I think my dad got it when my mom was sick in 2006. That makes that computer 9 years old.

My IMAC is late 2006 or 2007. It is slow but works and so I got the IPAD hoping not to get a computer for awhile. Now I hear it's not safe to go on the internet, sigh. I can't decide what to get.

I got rear ended on Tuesday while taking my mom to the urologist. Yep, another UTI.

Cancelled class. Max is too low to leave. I can't go later so the gym will wait until tomorrow. If my mom's CG shows up today I'll take a walk with the dog and my sister. Not as good as a class for weight control but probably better for my neck.

Ah, Max. What do you have against spin class?

He sure did come down for you this morning, Elise. A truly unpredictable guy. Hope he surfs steady for you.

Ouch on the rear-end accident. Take care.

Marilyn and Polly

Sorry you had to miss you class, but it's great to see Max in the lagoon. I hope he keeps surfing safely. I hit a pot hole last month and it caused my back to start hurting. All the doctor did was give me pain medicine. I googled back stretches and it helped.

yikes, how awful. hopefully walking and exercising when you can will work things out.

your poor mom - and poor you by default. I know the burden falls on you to take care of her. after your mom has had so many, i've been thinking and wondering if my mom had gotten another one after we had her treated for the first one. Nine years later and I still wonder if there was something I could've done differently. Hindsight . . . i'm glad you got your mom diagnosed and hope these stay away. Does she drink cranberry juice or take the tablets? I wonder if there is a human equivalent of cosequin. It's not only for neuropathy, it's supposed to strengthen the lining of the bladder (in cats) and help prevent UTIs. You might check on that one.

My mom can't take cranberry because she is on Coumadin. I'll check into a human equivalent for cosequin. Thanks.

Typical Max wasn't anywhere near his dish with that last check but I fed him and he cleaned his plate and is asking for more. He sure likes room service. Sorry but no more until next check Max. I'm hoping his lc will keep him surfing and he won't drop lower or bounce. He's chirping as I write.

Looking great today Max!!

Getting in some good lagoon time, but that's far enough....time to come back towards shore a little!!

Might check with your mom's doctor on the cranberry juice

Coumadin removed the restriction against cranberries awhile back

Wow. We were never told this. I even asked about the tablets given cats and cranberries juice with one of her last hospitalization. It's on her hospital pharmacist's foods to avoid that they give us every time she's there. I will pass this on to her cardiologist this week. Thanks Chris.

Thanks for checking in Marilyn and Carla.

With my own mom having dealt with anti-coagulation therapy (as well as a lot of other meds), I've had to deal with the restrictions on foods too

She still isn't supposed to have grapefruit but it's one of her all time favorite things, so her doctor lets her have some "once in awhile" (instead of every day for breakfast like she'd like) and we moved the medication to nighttime so she's not taking the pill at the same time she's eating the grapefruit

We give it at night too. I wish she could take one of the newer drugs but they are just too risky.

At this point, I also take into consideration mom's QOL

Of course she could live without grapefruit, but it's one of those simple little things that she really enjoys....this whole "caretaker" thing with our parents is always a delicate balance, that's for sure

I tried regular lc bit not interested. Next Beechnut. No interest. Gerber's chicken he ate. Gotta admire his determination to get what he wants.

That's one smart cat. He has you trained, too! :p

Max, it was nice of you to dive into the lagoon to keep Cinco company, but he's headed back to shore now. Why don't you follow him and give your mama a break?

My DH is on coumadin/warfarin. He's only supposed to have one glass of wine a day, but we have two with dinner. His numbers are really good, so it doesn't seem to hurt him. He was naughty last weekend when we went wine tasting, but as Chris says, QOL has to be taken into consideration. We looked at the new drugs as they came out, but our HMO says no go - so far none of them have an antidote, so if you're in a car wreck or something, chances are you'll bleed out. With Coumadin they just give you a shot of vitamin K. It's a pain, but better to be safe.

I believe the human equivalent of Cosequin is Glucosamine/Chondroitin.

I hope you get your walk in, Elise, and that your spasms stay away.

Thanks Tricia. The CG showed up but is leaving at 8. She didn't give a reason. Not good. I'm off to see what I can find out.

Nice to see Mr. unpredictable join Chi Chi in the lagoon today:D! Hard to find good reliable CG. At my work, some of the residents have private aides come to stay with them, since we dont provide that. Seems Im always seeing new faces with some of them. May just be the agency..not sure. Hope you get some info from the doc about the cranberry etc. My mom is on Coumadin too..for years now. Surf safe tonight Max!:)

Looks like Max decided you were to stay home today. The LagoonMeister has the waterwings ready if there is to be a repeat.

I'm really sorry that your mother's situation is so difficult to deal with. I hope you can get the CG to be more responsible. I had some of the same travails while caring for my aunt after she broke her hip at age 91. She lived to be 99, but wasn't happy with her dependant situation (eventually a nursing home, where she did get good care, however).

Take care of your back. I have an excellent book on back-care basics. Gentle yoga for back problems. I'll send you the title and author tomorrow.

Tested 3 times First one was 305. Yikes. Back-up said 218. Third test with Relion 258. Any way you cut it we have a bounce going on. Pokey break until either +3 or he is begging for food whichever comes first.

Ella, it's my neck and shoulders. My weak spot from previous injuries but not too bad this time. I'm tensing up when I stop at yellow lights which isn't helping. That isn't how I got hit but it triggers it.

Thanks for the visit Laura. My mom has been on coumadin for many years as well. It hasn't been a big problem but these infections sure are.

Not only did I not get the walk but I had to drive my sister to pick up a car that my brother is giving her, Tricia. The bym will be there tomorrow.

Well time to measure, feed and shoot. Have a nice night all.

Big bounce. Haven't seen this for some time. First test for higher. Second lower so again I averaged it. Pokey break I guess. Hopefully back on track tomorrow.
