Good Morning LL!

This morning recap - shot 1.0f (today's the first day I tried a fat dose)
AMPS 130
+2.5 86
+5 82
+6 86

Six ate his snacks overnight, but with his PMPS I have to wonder if he ate within the 2 hour window. Maybe not, he was higher than normal at his +3 last night (118). He's just back in from some deck/back yard time.

Three nights ago I decided to start a MC diet. It's bare bones right now and I have some shopping to do. I posted in Health if you're interested. Bottom line, 2 out of our 7 have developed p~titis in the past three months. We moved to LC food four months ago. Six's p~titis might have had nothing to do with the food, but right now, I'm not willing to take that chance and I'm going to start exploring our options from wet food to raw. Looking for lower fat which usually means in commercial food, higher carbs. I would rather slightly adjust Six's insulin than have him suffer from another p~titis attack. If I can keep the carbs in a decent range, the adjustment might not be too much. Today I tried a fat dose because of last night's +3 (usual nadir) and this AMPS (though I know I'm not supposed to use that for dosing purposes...but I knew I was going to feed an MC mix this morning). It seems to be working - at least for today.

Lyle, our civie with p~titis, is home!!!!!! He is doing so much better. He probably could have come home yesterday, but we wanted to make sure all treatment basis had been covered. His IV came out last night. Six and Lyle go back in a little more than a week for another spec-fPl. I am so relieved to have him home...probably about as relived he is to be home. Now if we could just get his blood brother Hugo to stop hissing at him...that's his cuddle buddy and he needs him right now!

Thanks for all of your help and support this week LL!!!!!!!

Re: 4/17 Six's AMPS 130

Glad to see that Lyle is home Amy.
Now those are challenges with the food.
I know you will come up with something that will work for everyone.
I would say that raw is the best, even though I don't do it, so you will now
exactly what you are feeding your gang.
Have a great day.

So glad that Lyle is home!!!!! Every day I look for your condo and sigh if I don't see it.. know it has been rough :(.. hope things are really on the up swing now for you and your huge furry family.

He prob smells horrible to Hugo.. it'll straighten out as he gets that yucky vet smell out of him!

Re: 4/17 Six's AMPS 130

Me too!
Sorry Six, we want to know about you, but right now we have been worried about how Lyle was doing.

Now, that Lyle's home, he can have a chat with Six and swap p-titis stories!

I hope the food changes work out better for your crew of cats.

Re: 4/17 Six's AMPS 130

Nice number for Six and so happy Lyle is home hope his snuggle buddy gets over hissing soon I always hate it when a cat returns from the vet and one of the cats in the house think they are a stranger cat_pet_icon

Hi Amy, Great to hear that Lyle is home. Good luck with the food issue! I hope you find something that works for all the cats.

Hey Six, buddy! See you tonight at Hank's party. Wear your cowboy hat and boots! We're gonna dance with all the ladies!

Re: 4/17 Six's PMPS 121

Oh, that's right Hank's PAR-TAY!!!!

1. I found Six eating his +8.5 snack at +11. Food spike pre shot number. He was finishing it up as we walked though the door and snickering at us.

2. Lyle is out for the night. Tired boy.

3. Found two small cans of cowboy cookout and about 10 cans of granny pot pie. Ordered 2 cases of the cowboy cookout in 5.5 ounces. We've tried it on 5 out of the 7 cats. For dinner I fed 5 different kinds of cat food. Six likes the granny pot pie - whew! That's his food until the cases come in. Lyle had the EN and ate some others food after eating his EN. The others had a mix of Friskies and FF that equaled about 42% fat (what CC is). Two refused to eat the mixture so I opened a can of FF - Elegant Medley and they ate that. I sooooooooo hope I don't have to do this for much more than a week.

4. A little story to share that explains how tired and worried I was about Lyle and to give you a laugh...I'm one of those night eaters who eat stuff in the middle of the night without being 100% aware. Mine occurs when I'm really tired or stressed (I used to sleep walk as a child). Thursday morning I found evidence that I had eaten the night before in the kitchen with a a glass and crackers in the glass with milk on them. I had a memory of orange juice, but didn't find any evidence so thought nothing of it. About an hour later I was putting on shoes in my bedroom and I kicked something that sounded like our cat bowls. I bent down to discover a cat bowl under our bed and there was the remnants of orange juice in the bowl. Yep, apparently I had poured OJ in a cat bowl (it looked like a clean one) and drank it and then placed it under the bed. Go ahead and laugh...it's cracked me up since I discovered it!

Re: 4/17 Six's PMPS 121

Omg Amy that story is sooooo funny, you poor thing!!! Glad Lyle is home! Wishing you the best of luck with the food thing, that has got to be hard! When scrabble was at the vet a couple of weeks ago for the surgery on his absess, Sabrina my female was so mean to him, hissing & growling, I wanted to kill her, but that only lasted a day & they are best buds again, lol!

LOL at your food stories, Amy. Do you have a dog? Maybe you need one to show you what you've hidden around the house.

I'm glad you fattened the dose. Good luck with that and the food change!

THIS by far is the best part of the story.. because orange juice is a (mild) acid I think??.. so I wonder if it would have eaten any of the evidence.. :)

It's great that Lyle is home, he'll stop smelling like vet soon and all will be well. We're looking into raw as well, going to see if she'll eat it as soon as the supplements get here. Six's numbers are looking really good too.

That story is hysterical! It's a good thing the kitties don't like citrus otherwise, they may have cleaned whatever you'd left in the bowl!

If Hugo is still hissing at Lyle, put a sock over your hand and give Hugo a good rub down. Then rub Lyle with the sock. Hopefully, Lyle will begin to smell more familiar to Hugo that way.
