Hate to say it, but the numbers aren't really going down, so one drop it will be....It's ok tho..need to help out Mr. P here and get Spot back on the right track. I'll be home all day to monitor...well, except to get more strips.

Right now, Spot is waiting for his breffis, very patiently!

Have a great Caturday LL! I'll be back a little later...going btb today!

QUESTION: should I make the ambg to an amps since he got a drop of insulin???

Re: 4/17 Deb's Spot AMBG 143 - going to give a drop

Dear Spot,
I am really glad you have a bean who is very much on top of things and can help nip things in the bud before they blossom. Sometimes the sunshine can be a little bright at the falls and you need to come inside for a little sunblock before you go back out to lounge and play. It's for your own safety. And, as your bean said, "its okay!".

(((((((((((spot)))))))))))) We love you! cat_pet_icon

Good call Deb. You have such a wonderful attitude! I hope you have a good caturday!

(and yes, I would change the ambg to amps...its more telling)

Re: 4/17 Deb's Spot AMBG 143 - going to give a drop

I agree with Carolyn on all counts. You have a great attitude although I'm sure this is tough going. I'd change over to AMPS.

Re: 4/17 Deb's Spot AMBG 143 - going to give a drop

Hey Deb! You are doing the right thing, as who's more tuned in to their cat than you??
Just a drop will get him going again, and he'll be back at the Falls in no time(not that we dont love having you here). We really want to see Spot back at his Falls condo!!
You know what you are doing!! Have the utmost faith in you--Sending BIG HUGS & a Happy Caturday yo you & Spottie! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 4/17 Deb's Spot AMBG 143 - going to give a drop

sometimes a cat just needs a little remedial training. I would have done the same. Good call and come on Mr. Spot Man - teach Mr. P to work properly.

Re: 4/17 Deb's Spot AMBG 143 - going to give a drop

Hi Deb, You are doing the best thing to get that pancreas back on track. Besides, Spotty probably missed his successions of treats! But he'll be back at his Falls condo in no time and you'll be stuck with a whole box of test strips!
Best of luck with the drop!

Ella & Stu

Re: 4/17 Deb's Spot AMPS +3 ~ 148

Thanks for the support everyone! I really need it now...why you ask??
Well, even tho I did read the "Dear Mom" letter and I know that Spot is just a number, I was very hopeful that when I got up from btb'ing I'd see a nice number for Mr. Spot. Instead, I see that he went up 5 points. Yes, I could have tested him again, but there is usually only a 5 point varience, so I didn't.
I am very sad...not because I had to give Spot some insulin this morning, but because I can't figure out why his numbers are climbing. The AB's have been on board for 4.5 days now, his breath is smelling good, he is going poo, he is Spot...acting normally...eating, hanging out, clear eyes, pooing...nothing out of the ordinary. So, is there some other medical thing that is going on...is he getting into something he's not supposed to (I am very good w/keeping Ali and Molly's kibble locked up tight and keeping all kibble out of Spot's way).....or is Mr. P pooping out again. I only wish I knew. If I have to begin insulin therapy again, I am ok with that, really, that doesn't make me sad because I know that will help him....and that is my main priority. sigh..................

Ok, it's time to stop rambling, pick my heart up off the ground, dust myself off, and move forward. Again, guys thanks for letting me vent here. Hope you all have a great day...It's cold and damp here (may be one reason I'm feeling the way I do today), I miss the sunshine!!

((((Deb)))) I would have done the same. Remember what Jill said, his pancreas is functioning so if you need to slow a drop or bring up low numbers, don't be afraid to go for the HC and Karo earlier than you normally would. Low carb food might just stimulate his pancreas more and drop the number further. That's what she is doing when Alex drops, for the same reason.

It's OK Deb, it really is. We all know how devastating it feels when there is a setback of any sort, even if it is just a drop. It really IS OK.
So, a tiny drop of a step backwards, just to get Spot on track again, and Spot will be right as rain before you know it.

Spot's done it once, so there is absolutely no reason to think Spot can't do it again, even if it is just a drop of a setback or just a few drops more.

Just do what needs to be done, and both you and Spot will be fine.
Be strong. Stay positive. It's a good day.

It'll be ok. I don't think he can get hurt on a drop and if he needs it to get back on track then he needs it and it's good you still have it around. Mr. P is probably saying "Ahhhh" and it can rest just a bit.

Maybe it is like re-booting your computer... sometimes you just gotta' do it, even if you don't know what went wrong and then everything is back in place. I hope Spot just needs a little 're-boot.'

(((deb)))
nice drop! i know first hand the kinds of feelings one goes through when restarting insulin, but it will be ok. you caught a problem right away and are treating. there's no reason to think spot won't be back at the falls before you know it.

(((Deb))) I hope it's just a very temporary setback. It's so hard sometimes to figure out what is going on inside those little furry bodies. At least he is feeling good, which counts for a lot.

Deb, I think it might just be too tough for Spot at the falls...I mean, Pelusa and Maui have been waiting for Spot for over a year now, and they are very demanding kitties. Can you imagine how tough it has been for Spot to satisfy all of their whims? Pelusa NEVER stops wanting Spot to drive her places and Maui can just be a pain. When he's back here in LL, HE gets waited on hand and foot, whereas over there, he becomes a servant. I don't blame the boy for wanting a spot of insulin just for a break (get it...spot of insulin  ).

Deb
It is so amazing how on top of Spot you are (tha didn't come out right did it :-D )
He is in amazing and capable hands and you can vent cry or do whatever you want here.
This is your family too.
Spot will be Spot, he is a cat. And this drop will hopefully kick start him.

CD always has the best descritions.

Re: 4/17 Deb's Spot PMPS ~ 115

+9 ~119
pmps ~ 114

Even though these aren't bad numbers, I still gave another drop for good measures. I'm home all night and I can observe. Got some high carb food and karo so I'm all ready.

Re: 4/17 Deb's Spot PM +4.5 ~ 75

lowest number we've seen since 3/30/10. Will set alarm for +7 to get a test and make sure he doesn't go to much lower.

Will be going to bed shortly..I hope you all have a wonderful evening!
