Ann & Maggie11 (GA)

Hi,
Very nice morning for Maggie. I am having trouble getting a good sample from her ear. I'm using 26 gauge thin Lancets from a local pharmacy, and it takes me three jabs to get a good sample. I'll be making a stop to pick up new lancets. With the Alpha Trak meter it takes a good drop, I've noticed, to get an accurate reading. Her numbers may be off a bit, although I hope not!

Re: 4/16 Ann & Maggie AMPS=106

Good AMPS Maggie...not green like yesterday, but still very good. Nice checks last night too Ann....are you still awake to get a +4 at night to vary the times and get a fuller picture of what she is doing and when she is doing it?
BTW, do you use a lancet device or are you doing it free hand? I use a lancet device that always uses the same pressure and I really like it cause I was never good at free hand pricking.. There is a clear end so I can see where I am placing the device and I know that not all are like that though. The gauge on your lancets are pretty large so I guess it's the amount of pressure that counts with the amount of blood that is drawn......

Re: 4/16 Ann & Maggie AMPS=106

Dosn't that just start the day off with a whimper? Hate when I have to keep poking.
'Course extra treats are involved (for both of us)

Re: 4/16 Ann & Maggie AMPS=106

Yes, Amy it's extra treats for sure for the poking. She's getting spoiled with me sprinkling the freeze dried salmon on her Sophisticat food. If I don't add it, I get a dirty look from her!

Hi Pat, I use the lancet device and didn't change the pressure device but will check. I would have to set the alarm for the +4 which I should do to get a better feel for what's up!

Re: 4/16 Ann & Maggie AMPS=106; +1.5=103

That would be good Ann....truthfully, I set an alarm for 4 am and have managed to actually wake up for it 98% or the time. i have totally gotten used to doing that...and although i might be half asleep, a # close to 50 wakes me into full awareness and I can then go to work with the gravy. But, it it's an okay number, I jot it down and am usually surprised in the morning when I see it again. LOL. It's just good to realize that the night time cycle can be really eye-opening so it's good to see if you can get checks. It's a pain, I know, but it's important....God job! :YMHUG:

Re: 4/16 Ann & Maggie AMPS=106; +1.5=103; +8=112 - problem?

Hmmm...I think something is amiss with my Alpha Trak meter. I just tried to do a test with the control solution, and the meter failed to show any reading. I tried three times, one with an unopened bottle of control solution. Maggie's numbers seem to flat or all the same, no fluctuation or peak. Anything similar happen with your meters. I'm taking it in tomorrow for them to run a test.

Re: 4/16 Ann & Maggie AMPS=106; +1.5=103; +8=112 Problem?

Hi Ann
Just wanted to pop by and say hi! I use the relion micro meter from Walmart, it is really cheap if you are thinking of getting a different one and the strips are pretty cheap too. Just a thought. I free hand with the lancets but I use the really thin one's 30-32 gauge. I am pretty good at getting it on the first try, not sure if it is the lancet/technique or Scrabble's ears?
Hope you can figure out the meter thing. Have a good weekend!

Re: 4/16 Ann & Maggie AMPS=106; +1.5=103; +8=112 Problem?

Thanks Sienne and Michelle. I've heard the Relion is a good meter. The meter is about three months old, so possibly the battery is dying, too! It just seems like she should be peaking instead of staying flat with her numbers.
