Yesterday's Condo

Hi Everyone
It’s me Max. AKA Mad Max, Rainbow Kitty, Miracle Max & Marvelous Max

I asked my mom if I could write my last condo in Lantus Land. She said it was okay.
Here is my first post: 11/26 Max AMPS 463

My mom never formally introduced me to everyone here. She wanted to follow the “rules” of LL posting so she just jumped right in.
So I will tell you a little bit about myself. I was saved from the garbage with my 2 sisters. My mom adopted us and when we got home we found an older sister living there as well, Sasha (GA)
Over the years I have had several medical issues. When I was 2 I had fatty liver and dropped my weight down to 10 pounds. My mom fed me with a feeding tube that I kept throwing up and after 6 weeks, I got back to my old self. Then I had surgery for bladder stones, would not use my LB and then in Oct 2009, I got fatty liver again. That was when my diabetes was diagnosed, or should I say missed.

My mom took me to the emergency in November and that was when we found out for real that I had diabetes. She was so worried for me when I wouldn’t eat that she even spoke to a cat communicator to find out what was wrong and to tell me that she loved me and wanted me to get better. I already knew that.

My vet put me on Caninsulin but my mom insisted on Lantus. That began our journey here.
The first person to visit our condo was Sienne/Gabby who of course needed to help my mom out with all of the housekeeping rules :-D . Who would have known then that Sienne, Libby and Jill would spend many nights up late on the computer helping my mom out when my numbers started to drop? And then there were mornings with her coffee buddies, Miriam/Putty and Michelle/Scrabble when I decided to have really low numbers and my mom was afraid to give me insulin.

Of course we started at 1u BID and then kept going up and up and up and up. All the way to 6u. Many suggested that I might have acro, IAA or just be a high dose cat. I really did boggle the minds of a lot of people here and at one point we gave up the rule book and just went along with what I was doing. I know how hard this was for my mom. I heard her crying lots of nights. She was so afraid that I had been diabetic for so long that I would not get better. After all, I had the perfect reasons to be diabetic. I only ate dry food, lots and lots of it, I am overweight and an 8.5 year old neutered male. Gee, no surprises here.

We have learnt so much in the past 5 months of living in LL. I have made so many new friends and my mom knows more about the beans, the beans’ kitties, the beans civvies and significant others than she does about her friends outside of LL. Well actually, there has not been much of a life for my mom outside of LL but I know that strangely enough, this has made her very happy. I always hear her laughing when she is reading some condos, crying too when a fellow kitty has crossed over the bridge and cheering on her friends in their time of need or success.
My mom has given up a lot of sleep to make sure my numbers were okay through the middle of the night. I know how much she likes to sleep. Even on the weekend her alarm was set to wake up to test/shoot/feed me. She gave up skiing for me this winter because she was afraid to leave me home alone for that long and she tells time in the strangest ways now. Everything is now “plus” a number. 11:00am would be +4 for her.

There are so many people that my mom and I want to thank, and if we miss your name it’s because I am still a cat and my memory is not all the great.

To our Canadian friends, Ronnie/Luna, Gayle/Shadoe/Oliver, Dawn/Nova, Helene/Tizon, Linda/Bear Man.
Ronnie posted my condos for my mom when she went on her long Christmas vacation without me. That was so generous of her and it gave my mom such peace of mind leaving me behind. She knew all of you would be watching over me. Luna was also a great example as to what lots of testing can do.
Shadoe-My buddy going up the dosing ladder until my numbers cracked and she was diagnosed with acro.
Oliver-My new Canadian friend. I am so glad my mom got you your new mom.
Nova-How lucky for you that your mom called the shelter at just the right time and snatched you away into her loving arms. Even though you won’t let her kiss you.

And to my American friends that I just might have to get a rabies shot so I can come and visit.
Moonie-always the smiling face and oh so pretty . You melt my heart.
Shadow-the party animal. I so expect to still be invited to all of your parties
Stu-You will have to send (or bring) your Stu’s stew recipe to my mom
Logan – I will always watch over you and bring you to all the parties, okay?
Spot-I so need to get a pair of zippy pants like you have or the name of your tailor. Feel better.
Tugger-sorry my man but your mom posted a picture of your butt on the internet.
Gabby-the Drama Queen to my Drama King
Scrabble-My new buddy with the coolest muscle tees
Six-My down the dosing ladder buddy. Can you hurry up please.
Baby-Now I will never forget Baby’s first day in LL. Look at you now pretty lady.
Max- Almost there, after a pretty rough start. I am so proud of you and your mom.
Basil-I am so raiding your closet for those spiffy suits your mom bought you
Hank/Smokey/Boomer/Jasmine-my Gum day buddies. Did we set a record for trials at one time?
Latte-beautiful dear sweet Latte. Hugs forever and always.

To all the beans, the mommies, the dear friends that have helped me get better;
there are not enough thank yous in the world to say. I will be waiting for all of you at the falls.

My last thank you though goes to my mom and family.

I love you forever, I like you for always, as long as I’m living, your baby I’ll be.
Max

Re: 4/15 Max Bubblicious Day 13 AMBG 103~+2 73

Marvelous Max! You did a great job on your condo post!

I know my mom posted my butt in the internetz. I'm gonna join facebook because my boy said there's a group for kids who have moms that do that stuff and embarrass their kids. I really need to be in that group. She traumatized me dude. Showing my butt to the world!

I'm so happy that you are going to the falls! (antijinx!!) Check out all the best spots ok? Cuz my mom said that I'm gettin' another decrease tonight and there aren't that many drops left to take out of my dose so I'll be there soon (antijinxxxxxxxxxxx) and I expect you to have picked the best sunny spots (with a view of the sunbathing girls would be teh awesomesauce!)

Have a great day 13 on the GUM!!!

Randi, I mean MAX, that is such a beautiful post. The first one I read this morning... it's good to start the day with tears....happy tears.

You are so fortunate to have found Randi and give her your love, she needed you.

Ok this made me cry I guess since I can so relate with Do Lou and his high dosing and crying and wondering if I will ever truly see the day he is better :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

So happy Max is doing so well for you

Maybe I'll post something longer when I stop crying.. for now.. Max that was beautiful.. we all love you buddy.. and tell your mom we all love her to pieces too.

Oh happy tears here too!! What a beautiful post Max. I remember when your mom was on her Christmas vacation and so worried about you too. And not long after she got back I got to "meet" her in Maddie's pool.

Congrats on day 13 Max!!!

Great job Randi

Hmmmmm...... you're setting the bar pretty high for the rest of us kitties, Max! congratulations on the Final Step! But I'm gonna have to get out Mom's copy of "The Elements of Style." Hope to meet you at the F........ soon. flip_cat

Hey Max...that was a beautiful letter you wrote to all your friends. You made a lump in my mommy's throat.
I'm so very happy to see you going to the Falls. It would be wrong to say that I will miss you...so I will say that I hope to see you at Shadow and Raja''s parties, :-D
Don't forget about us, okay?

Max's letter reminds me that each of you are saving a cat because of your hard work. I salute every one of you for being such devoted, caring, loving, nurturing people.

More tears here. Thank you for letting Max share that. It was really, really sweet. All the best to you both at the Falls (oops Bubble Gum Land).

What a lovely letter Max! It definitely brought tears to my eyes--had a hard time keeping them from running down my face, I am at work you know! I'm so glad that you're doing so well, that you've been such a role model for my Max! Definitely save us a good spot over at the falls...we're working our hardest to get there soon! And you are one lucky man to have your mama!

OKay Max. I am here at work eating in the cafeteria and crying. Crying....that was beautiful.

Wow Max, what a cool story! I didn't know you were rescued from the garbage. Neat! I also didn't know you were on so much insulin at one time and now none. I guess your Mom finding you and your trip to the Falls tomorrow is meant to be my friend! You are a fighter.
Hopefully I'll be following you to the Falls in a week!
See ya soon - can't wait to see your video!
Boomer

GIGANTIC HUGS ALWAYS!!!

Dear Max,
I'm so proud to have been one of your Canadian friends while you have been here. Send me a postcard from the falls, OK Buddy? I don't think I'll ever see them, but I have heard they are beautiful. Please tell your Mom thanks for offering to smuggle me food and stuff from the place where they sell beef food. It has been great to follow your adventures. I hope you check back often to tell us how you are doing.
Take care,
Bear Man.

Very nicely written and said, big Max; I figured your mom would leave the writing to you, after all, it's your story!

I am so happy for you buddy. We hope to see you around this place still, from time to time, so don't be a stranger now. After all, there are always parties around this place, and you don't want to miss out there!
Oliver and I will be watching for you; Oliver sends his thanks to your mom for helping him get to Toronto, and despite what our mom says, Oliver and I are OK, so long as he keeps outta my stuff.

Be sure to keep in touch with everyone; we are on fb and have a bunch of stupid pictures in albums; mom keeps taking pictures in our faces UGH, so drop by and visit any time you like.

Pssst, Max. I think now's a good time to slip some hints at some nice graduation type presents, like maybe a nice new catbed or something?

(((Max)))) this was the most awesome post! I am sitting here crying like a baby reading it!!!! (tears streaming down my face!) what an inspiration you are!!!! I cannot wait for the party tomorrow!!!!! I hope we will be joining you at the falls sometime soon, let us know how it feels!!!!!!
(((Randi))) I can relate to how you/were are feeling on so many levels, I know we didn't have as hard a time as you in the beginning but it took us a while to get regulated and I thought God can I really go through this every day!?
I love all of you here!
Thanks Randi and Max for being such an inspiration!
Hugs to you both!!!
Now let's party!!!!

Mascara and nose are both running!! What a beautiful letter. What an incredible story -- on all counts.

(((Randi))) & (((Max)))

Gabby and Gizmo hope you'll come visit when in Chicago.

That was so beautiful Max!!! What a wonderful post! You are a very special kitty! :YMHUG:
We will miss your condo here in LL but know that your life at the Falls is where you belong. You and your Mama have worked so very hard to get to this point in time....she is a special lady too o:-)

You both deserve this OTJ time....just think: sleeping all through the night in blissful dreamland,...and maybe even sleeping in on the weekends. No more shots! No more ear testings! No more daily SSs and condo postings. What will you two do with all that extra time in your day?

Thank you for sharing your story with us.....we love you Max....we hope you settle in nicely at the Falls...say hi to Luna and everyone there...you are gonna LOVE it!!!

My Main Man Max!
Getting ready to Par-Tay with you Buddy!! It's gonna be GREAT!
C U then
Your friend
Shad-O bcatrun_gif

Impressive Max even knows how to use the spelling and grammar check! Amazing job you guys......Now get a good nights sleep and don't blow it before tommorrow cause it's party time! Decorations are being prepared and your new condo is all ready here at THE FALLS!

Why Max...what a beautiful writer you are! And such a soft heart - why are you trying to make so many people cry today?

I am glad that Max was able to touch so many people today, and I hope you
don't mind all of the tears.
As happy that I am that Max is where he is today, it is still bittersweet for me.
I have come to cherish my times reading everyone's condos and having people visit
us. Even though we will not have our regular condo, we will still be visiting yours.
It always amazes me that in many ways, we are all strangers but yet the dearest
of friends too.
This place we call Lantus Land, LL,is full of kindness, compassion, generousity
and devotion. We put our trust and faith, our babies lives, into the hands of others.

Do No Harm. Is that not the main "Mission Statement" here?
I knew Max was always safe and we had the support behind us.
And to all of you Angels, you know who you are, the biggest hug and thank you
from me, Randi. You ladies are the best!

Can't wait to see everyone at the party tomorrow, so don't be late.

i'm just excited we're in the final stretch here. be sure to visit from time to time to inspire more kittehs!

Dear Max,

I had no idea you had so many, well, issues as a young guy! Thanks for letting us know how much you love your mama bean -- she deserves it, for all her hard work for you. And you have been a champ yourself.

Thanks also for another example of the strange sweetness beans and kitties find in Lantus Land. Who'd have thought something good could come from this diagnosis?

Enjoy your big day tomorrow.

Hugs, Randi and Max!

Max,

Hey--get yourself a condo near mine at the Falls and borrow my clothes any time you want!

from Basil

PS My bean can't post because she's over there sniffing away.

Ok I'm gonna re-write this - I was here 3-1/2 hours ago and my building power went out, arggg!!

Dear Max and Randi

thanks for making me cry too. You just had to go and do all that, lol.
It's been a joy to see you - Max, take such a wonderful turn with your sugar dance and into trial land.

I am very very happy for you sweet Max kitty and so happy - over the moon in fact  with happiness for your mom Randi and her family.
Everyday is a blessing, as Nicole & Baby always says, and it is so true.
Hold your sugar kitties close to your heart and always, always have faith and stay strong with determination for a happy healthy kitty.

A ((((special hug))) for DPS/Housekeeper for helping your family during all this time.
You're a very lucky kitty Max for having a caring DPS there with you everyday while mom was at work.

Luna is getting his rest in today and his party suit and fancy shoes are all ready for the biggest day in your life Max.
((((hugs)))) to you and to my fellow Canadian friend (((Randi)))

What a lovely letter. Max, you described a journey everyone here is familiar with, and there were so many things I could relate to. What a great description of what the LL family is all about. I'm so happy for you and your bean.

Tell your Mom she's an integral part of this community and this shouldn't be your last condo, you can and should rent one anytime.

Oh, Max, sniff, sniff, thank you so much for sharing your whole story with us today. What a journey you have had in your life. To see your success story is an inspiration to all who have read it. You are such a lucky fellow Mr. Max, as you well know. God saw it fit to put you and your mama bean together. She was at the right place at the right time...you were meant to travel this journey together.

We are so happy that you have made it this far...day 13...what a wonderful number this is....in Lantus Land, the #13 is not an unlucky number. It does not bring bad luck...it brings happiness and joy, it brings inspiration and hope.

It also brings out zippy pants and dancing shoes!!! Spot and I can't wait to come to your OTJ party tomorrow!! I think Spot may have called his tailor and ordered two new pairs of zippy pants with matching top hats...and I know one of them is NOT Spot's size!! Spot sez he'll see you at the falls, Max!!!

Max - what type of gum are you chewing for the party tomorrow??

Thanks for writing to us all today. You and your mom have done a great job! I do want to correct one thing though - you said this was your last LL condo today --- Even though you will be at the Falls and OTJ we want you to come back and give us updates on how you are doing, OK? You can have a condo for the day or you can hijack any of ours for the day.

See you at the party tomorrow !

Randi -

That is just the most sweet touching thing. What a journey for you all...and look at Max now! We are so pleased and thrilled to be on this path with you...and to be counted as your fellow Whiska-teer. They did good, our babies...on this trial...and helped support each other through. And now are ready for their new condo at the falls. We expect to see you around alot! Hank & Max can nap together by the water....and conger up ways to get the chicken treats down from their certainly more secure new location.
It was fun to be partners in crime and pull each other through this leg...we loved your visit every day & all the great support & and want to keep in touch.

Hank is SO excited about tomorrow..and the big bash that's coming. He EVEN was willing to step it up a notch & get his dressy gear on so we can toast Max in style. ..but no time for sleep after that..cause we're right behind you!

party_cat Let's get this Party On! \M/ \M/

Betty

Hey Max! You are downright eloquent! What a life you have led!! Your mamabean is a hero and she must be mighty proud of you today. I can't wait for your party tomorrow. I've already started to cook some delicious treats. Please write to me when you get to the Falls, Buddy. I'm gonna miss you around here. Maybe I'll get to the Falls, too, one of these days! See you tomorrow. Let's party!!!

Your pal,
Stu

Dear Randi, Blinking back tears after reading Max's condo today. His is a beautiful story and he and his sisters were so lucky to have been found by you. Max's new life at the Falls will be wonderful for your whole family. We are so happy for you all. Come visit often and let us know how Marvelous Max is doing.

Your friend,
Ella

What a touching post...tears....

Thank you (both :-D ) for taking the time to write such a lovely description of what is involved in this 'sugar dance', and a tribute to the sacrifices everyone here has had to make over and over again to help their sugar kitties feel better.

Lovely and so moving. Thanks so much, and cheers to Max for his magnificent progress...with the help of his wonderful mama bean!

((((((Max)))))) ((((((Randi)))))

Can't wait for tomorrow.
i000000000000000asfasfffffffff1111111111111111111111111

hee hee, Lucy wrote that part. She doesn't usually use the computer so it must be important. She doesn't quite have Max's literary prowess.

Thanks everyone for stopping by today.
We are so looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow at the party.
Yes the #13 is a lucky number. We could say this is Max's Cat-Mitzvah too right?

Max is all snuggled in his bed waiting for the main event. I guess he does not want
to overdo it.
I still have not figured out what the next routine will be and when or how often I should test him. Kind of nervous to miss something.
Any opinions would be great.

Oh, I almost forgot. Now can I go and stick my tongue out at the 4 vets that would not listen to me and thought I was crazy????
Good night all. Until tomorrow.

You can go stick your tongue out at those vets.. but I should mention.. Nova's doctor DOES listen to me.. and that's WHY she thinks I'm crazy. Don't expect that part to change :).

Dawn you are so funny but oh so true.
I just had wished that one of them said, I am here if you need me and I would love
to know what you are doing. Big sigh that they are too egotistical and set in their ways that a CA/CPA would know more then them about FD. I just feel bad for their other kitt patients.
Max can not be the only diabetic in Montreal yet there are no others here on the board.
Same for you in Edmonton Dawn. I guess the Ontario people are smarter than us. :-D

I'm glad you said that Sienne, not me. I can only think it and think it and think it.
I could just see the language police raiding LL.
Yes for those that might not know, we have language police where people can call and make anonymous complaints about English that is used.
And that includes webistes. And signs and everything else here. :YMSIGH:

We could say this is Max's Cat-Mitzvah too right?
...you stole my line!

Will be hard to sleep ...so excited for the big day. Except no problem apparently for Max.

Seriously, language police?

I'm with you on the vets...except I have no one to stick my tongue out at..

So Randi, turning the alarm off this weekend?

tomorrow...tomorrow....

g'nite

PS: where's his PMBG?

randi and max,
sigh... add my tears to those which have been shed. happy tears!
thank you for recounting your journey... a journey which is all too familiar to each and every one of us.
tomorrow is THE big day! can't wait!!!

I'm Sorry Betty.
I will give it back you to tomorrow on Hank's Cat-Mitzvah, Day #13. :-D :-D
Just the way Deb said it and you said it the other day.

Yup. language police. No joke. That is what they are called.
I guess maybe this weekend I could try but feeder is set tonigt to turn to empty at 5:00 and I will test Max.
These habits will be so hard to change and no I am not comlaining. :-D

Thanks for stopping by tonight Jill.
We can't wait to see you there tomorrow.
You and your ladies saved another one. We have been blessed.
