4Morning LL

No post yesterday. Monday night one of our civie's Lyle became ill and has been at the vet's since then. Still don't know what has caused the illness, but started with vomiting - about three times in a five hour period - couldn't keep anything down he tried to eat. I went to visit him yesterday and he's doing pretty well. Yesterday had a fever and wouldn't eat. They started fluids yesterday afternoon because he wouldn't eat and viola, he started eating. He's also on ABs.

If his fever is down, he continues to eat and goes poo, he's allowed to come home today. They're treating it as a possible p-titis attack, but I don't think it is. Sent out the blood work to check - all of his other blood work looked fine. Also had x-rays to check for a blockage...didn't see anything. This civie likes to go outside in the yard and I suspect he picked up a bacterial/viral bug eating grass.

Now on to Six...

He's fine. I think his numbers are little strange, but I'm not around during the day to catch some tests. By strange...he doesn't seem to be dropping at night like he usually does. Wondering if his nadir (usually +3) is shifting. Don't really have enough data to know if there's really anything different...just feels that way right now.

He's in good spirits. Warm weather continues and he's going out at night to hang out in the back yard. When he uses it, still likes his auto feeder.

Just want to give a shout out to all the LL kitties and beans! Not sure we'll be able to get back on tonight. Paws crossed Lyle can come home tonight!

Re: 4/15 Six's AMPS 102

Hoping Lyle will be okay...when they go outside we never know what they get into. Hope it will turn out to be nothing of importance. Six is looking good....take care and we'll see you back here whenever you an make it... :YMHUG:

Re: 4/15 Six's AMPS 102

Hope Lyle is on the mend. They do get in to things outside this time of year and there is so much out there to get in to.

Don't you love it when they talk about how pets help to lower stress in people  I'm trying to remember a time when all my guys were healthy at the same time. Even my fish get in to the act and like to come up with problems.

Our pets choose us for a reason-
Hang in there.

Re: 4/15 Six's AMPS 102

Hi Amy, we missed you yesterday. Sorry it was because of a sick kitty. Poor Lyle, I hope he's better soon.

((((Amy))))

Re: 4/14 Six's PMPS 106

Six...doing just fine. Gonna try to grab a later test if his +3 hasn't dropped - that's normally his nadir and it's been running high for a nadir the past two nights.

Lyle...Gayle was on yuku and talked me through...thanks Gayle.

Lyle is staying but we are going up. Vet isn't in today though she's called in twice for updates.

Still has fever. Gave valium to stimulate app. and relax. did get him to eat some. not much. still no stool. gave him an enema. p-titis test not back yet. gave famotidine too.

ok. i'm off to visit lyle.

Re: 4/14 Six's PMPS 106

I hope you have a good visit with Lyle and they figure out what's the cause or at least get his temp down and no more vomiting or other bad things.

I think if you knew what it was, like p-titis, then you could easily come home with a stock of fluids and pain meds and nausea meds to treat Lyle at home. That's if you know what's wrong.
When you don't know the source and there is a fever, it is maybe better to have him with professionals who have the knowledge and supplies to treat Lyle well.

Be sure to get copies of all his bloodwork results; I keep a binder of all Shadoe's and Oliver's papers so I can look back later and see what happened before. What the vet may say is just not the same as seeing the values yourself.

I hope he is happy to get the kitty crak you are taking him on your visit ;-)

Re: 4/14 Six's PMPS 106

Six certainly looks good.

Hope Lyle starts eating and his fever comes down soon, poor guy. If it is pancreatitis, there are a lot of experienced people on the board. Talbot's temp dropped when he was sick with a bad case of cp but every cat is different. Fingers crossed for a diagnosis soon and a quick recovery.

Re: 4/14 Six's PMPS 106

I'm sorry to hear about Lyle. Have any of the neighbors been doing yard work and putting any chemicals, fertilizers, or plants in? I hope they get this figured out. It sounds like your vet is very caring.

Six is looking good.

Hi Amy, We're sending those healing, feeling better vines to Lyle. Hope he can come home soon.

Ella

Yo Six! Take good care of your mamabean. Keep showing her good numbers!

Stu

six is snacking. it's like he had to throw me an 89...if i can, going to grab a 5 or 6 to see if his nadir has switched. he's fine...just seems to be coasting at higher numbers than he was when we first moved to the 1IU.

lyle doing ok. i have forgotten everything done, but ABs, x-ray, enema, fluids (he's on a drip)...he ate some dry for me. we brought it up with a bed...again, monday was unexpected and i totally thought i was bringing him home after work yesterday. he did give us lots of purrs. poor guy. not a happy camper being there.

gayle - thanks again. i needed someone from the board to say he probably should stay at vets. monday night was so unexpected and wasn't planning on leaving him at the vets...just been hard to accept he's that ill. but the reality is, he's not doing his basics to survive.

sienne...i don't think so...am slightly worried he might have gotten into something, but neighbors don't do chemical lawns or garden so that's out. other thoughts?
