punkin is in his usual fine form this morning. furry, purry, membership maintained in the Clean Plate Club, and all around happy guy. yes, he made sure anya made it into the CPC too!

he has an appt in 2 hrs with a cardiologist to check his heart so we can determine if it's safe for him to have his teeth cleaned. yesterday my chiropactor said "am i just being callus, or, when do you just let your cat die and get a new one?"

:shock: :lol:

which is no doubt what most people think.

i said "i don't know when that time is, but i know it's not yet."

OMG... do they not have "quiet chiropractors" in the PNW??? :shock: :shock:

hahaha you guys are funny. she's actually just a year or so older than me, she's just obviously not a pet person. not my kind of a real pet person at least!

the great news - took all day, but got the echocardiogram done at the university Vet School here. They said they rarely see maine coons with hearts as good as his! said they could barely detect a heart murmur, only with effort. the student couldn't hear it at all. the vet said he'd rate it a 1/6 - 1 being the best, 6 being what you don't want. while at CSU they had thought his left atrium was slightly enlarged, but the vet said his measurements all came in normal. he said if you're not looking straight through the center it could look enlarged, and he saw that, but when he measured everything he decided it was merely perspective and that punkin's atrium is not enlarged. basically, his heart's in great shape.

so i'm uber happy.

wouldn't you know it, the appt was at 9:45am, he usually hits his lowest about 12:30ish - and starting at 10:50 he skated around 50 for the next 2.5 hours. i had to do the poke carb poke carb dance while we were there.

they gushed over him - i'm thinking it must be in Veterinarian 101: gush over the pet and the beans will 1) adore you and 2) forgive you for anything you do wrong. of course i enjoyed it, but all cats are cute. punkin was uber charming while we were there - licking my face and neck, climbing up under my hair, all the stuff that said "i love you mom and now i'm ready to go home!" they let him stay with me the whole time in the waiting room except while they examined him with me, and did the echo itself.

can you tell i'm uber happy? i was a little worried about all of it. so all is well! dancing_cat

Whoo hoo, this is excellent news. Hilarious on doing the poke carb thing while you were there. Good for the vets to see you in action so they can see it's not that hard, might encourage them to encourage others ;-)

I want to join the queue to smack your chiro though, and add a couple of people from my work to the smacking list :twisted:

Re your chiropractor: it seems like a bizarre attitude for a healer. I hope she doesn't feel that way about her patients. :shock:

And please tell your chiropractor that many of us do indeed consider her to be callus. Yeesh.

OMG my chiro would need a dentist after a comment like that Wowser. Ok I'm lying. I don't like confrontation and I just wouldn't go back. I'd imagine kicking her in the teeth though :mrgreen:

What wonderful beautiful news! I couldn't be more relieved hearing about Punkins healthy heart. Big hugs to you two. We needed to hear some good news.

Henry has his dental on the 23rd. He's 3 years old and I will be a nervous wreck.

So happy to hear that his heart is in good shape which means all the more lovin' for his mama!!!

How could he not be endearing with that low handsome voice of his ;-)
He knew the techs would lap that up!
