4/10 My sweet Chyna cat is gone

Hello, LL. I know some wanted an update but there isn't much to say. Chyna is still having trouble moving her back end and is looking miserable under the bed. She didn't eat at all overnight on her own, so other than the few spoonfuls I managed to give her between naps and the water from the bowl I held is all she had. I didn't have the heart to drag her out and test/shoot. So she got breffis spooned, which she ate like a good girl. She went pee and laid down in the litter to rest :cry: . There was only a medium poo sometime too, so not much of that the past 2 days. I managed to get a small purr when I petted her just now, while her tail wagged.

Thanks for all the visits yesterday and overnight. Especially Mariko and Wendy who held my hand. Yesterday: Chyna 4/9

I'll be calling my vet when they open, and if they won't fit her in right away I'm going to the new clinic that was on call last night to see the nice vet I talked to. I'm tempted just to go there and screw my vet...I feel like my heart is breaking and I don't know if she will be coming home :cry: .

Sending tons of vines for Chyna today! I'd be tempted to go to the new vet too, she sounds much more caring.

I'm home, my mom drove me. I actually got to see the owner/vet at my current clinic, when I phoned they said to come right in. He's doing an x-ray and if that doesn't show anything like obstructions then bloodwork which will run over $300 plus appt fee...and calling me to let me know options, if it is time to let her go and not suffer anymore or if there is something we can do. I'll use my utilities bill money. So Chyna is there and my house feels the emptiest it ever has.

Thanks so much for the vines, prayers, hugs and support. I don't know how I am still crying, there should be no tears left in me. I'm sorry I'm so pessimistic. It's so hard to see her like that.

I'm so glad your mom is able to be there to give you some moral support. I have been praying hard since reading your condo last night, and continue to do so. Chyna is a fighter, and she's had such excellent care. I'm sure she will be able to beat whatever this is. I'll keep praying that it is something easily treatable. I know what you're going through, and I wish there was something I could say or do to help. Try to keep positive thoughts, as negative ones will only make it harder to get through.

I'm glad you spoke to the owner at your vet's. Hopefully you will get some action more quickly than usual. Please update us when you can. You have a LOT of love and support coming at you from your LL family. HANG IN THERE!

The vet tech called. The vet wants me to come in in an hour to talk to him, but the results don't sound good. She said kidneys are failing, blood in the urine...and of course anemia, which I knew she had mild. So I'm probably going in to say goodbye to my sweet Chyna cat. God give me strength, I don't have much left. I'm not ready for this...

Blood in urine could mean infection and will add to anemia. Epogen does work for most cats and aranesp is even better. Find out what her creatinine is although if there is infection it will be higher. Sending prayers and hope that it's not her time. I do think there is more to try and she can feel better with support. Hugs. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

P.S. Forgot to add that IV fluids for 2-5 days brought Tiffany back for 6 months.

I'm praying really hard right now that the vet has some hopeful info for you. Whatever comes, don't forget about all the love and care you have given Chyna, and what a wonderful life she has had with you. I know you will make the decision that is best for her, and I wish I was there to help you through it. Is your mom able to be there with you? I hate to think of your diving with this on your mind. Stay strong.

Oh Rachel!! Hopefully they'll have something to offer you, but I know it's really hard when they say nothing on the phone.

I hope your mother can be with you today when you go talk to the vet.

If Chyna's in pain, you know you'll put her needs before yours, but if you need time, don't be afraid to take her home for one more night either. They could give her something for pain (if necessary) and let you have time to say goodbye if that's what you decide.

Thanks. I don't know all the details, but she can barely walk, they had her out to walk for them. I asked if it looked ok and the girl said not really and what I wrote but the vet wants to discuss. My mom is coming to drive me.

Thank you all for your hugs and support. My sweet baby girl is gone. I have the labs and her bun and crea were off the charts, crea wasn't even measurable...her phos was doubled in the last month, and she was miserable. I made the decision not to take her home and have her suffer longer since she couldn't even move. I'm having her pawprints done in cement thing. My heart is broken...and I am devastated. I will post a memorial another time, I just wanted to update you all. Thank you again, for caring about us.

My condolences on your loss. Where she went today, she was met by many other doggies and kitties, and she is getting lots of pets. cat_pet_icon
 
I am so very sorry, Rachel. You once again showed Chyna how much you loved her by setting her free from pain.
