Last Caturday's happy post. Thank you everyone for your well-wishes, and for sharing in our joy and celebration last week. She had a lovely Sunday; spent more than 2 hours just lounging around outside, and finishing up with an hour-long stroll. She enjoyed being told it was her special day, and all the hugs and kisses and extra attention and treats that came along with it.
It's been almost two weeks now since we started syringe-feeding. It's been going well for the beans. The kitty would probably disagree, though. We're now suspecting that her appy isn't really on a world sightseeing tour, but just playing hide-and-seek with us (mostly hide). I had to offer her some new HC canned food yesterday, and she ate it all up, so her appy must be lurking around somewhere. I think she just doesn't like her regular Friskies food anymore, and I can't really blame her, it gets boring when you eat the same thing day after day after day ... but she doesn't seem to like anything else except Fancy Feast, which is verboten as a dietary staple b/c of its phosphorus content. Syringe-feeding has been a great option though, b/c we've been able to give her better quality food (Wellness Chicken). Weighed her this morning; she seems to be maintaining her weight on a daily intake of just 2.5 oz of Wellness, 1/8 oz Fancy Feast, and an assortment of treats.
Aside from syringe-feeding, life's been pretty good for our little princess. At least an hour of outside time in the evenings, strolls when the beans are not too tired, plenty of naps and treats. She's felt well enough to hop by herself (we are thrilled!) up the new wing that her daddy made her on the kitty tower, and has enjoyed sitting perched there for hours, just within reach of daddy's arm for head scritches. And she's sleeping with me at night, and seems to think it's great fun to nuzzle me awake for head scritches around 4:30 every morning
BG-wise, I made the executive decision on Friday morning to shave her dose. DH was supposed to have gotten a pre-bedtime check on Thurs night but he forgot despite me reminding him three times before I went to sleep. We had no idea if she was flat or went low Thurs night, and I didn't want to chance it Friday, when I couldn't come home to check on her. The doseshave turned out to be the right call, b/c she plunged from Fri's AMPS of 142 to +2.75~66, all before her SQuids onset. I had to leave for an appointment, so offered and she ate 1/2 oz HC canned and a couple of Temptations. I left out another 1 oz HC and 2 more Temptations crushed on top of it, and she ate almost all of it while I was gone. I think we'll give this new regular 0.50u dose some time to see how she does. We're not obsessed with greens; I actually prefer her to stay in the 100-240 range, esp with her iffy appy.
U/s is on for Tuesday the 20th. I'm still waiting for them to get back to me on what sedation drugs they'll use, if needed. She's been told about the appt, and isn't looking forward to it, and to her belly being shaved. But I've also told her there's a possibility she may meet KB's mommy, and Her Royal Purriness seems to be looking forward to that
