Fortune is home and doing ok!

Thank you so much for the concern, love, and support! :bighug::bighug:

Yesterday, Fortune was admitted for anemia, and some concern for his breathing. He was put on oxygen, had a blood transfusion, and today they ran more diagnostics. Everything (chest Xray, echo) came back clear or mild, and we were able to take him home today! They now believe it was related to the anemia.

We are so relieved to have him home again, and are working with his oncologist to prevent him from needing hospitalization in the future; he will likely start darbepoetin. Additionally, we are trying to get a different internist to care for Fortune and his CKD to provide more palliative care. The other good news is that his creatinine came down from Thursday, so the subQ is working! :woot: And that's why he was able to come home.

We are still very worried about him, and are trying to keep him as comfortable as possible while still improving his symptoms. We aren't sure how much longer we have together, but we are so thankful for every day.

Tonight we decided to start 3IU because he was HI, and we knew he was due for an increase. So it might be an interesting night...;)

Welcome home, Fortune! So glad to read that he's home. Enjoy your cuddle time (even if there are some pokes in between). :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I think you had room for an increase. Some cats react a little more after a couple shots off, so do keep an eye on him tonight.

Keeping Fortune (and you) in my thoughts. :bighug:

So happy he's home, I hope the darbepoetin helps.
Perry was getting Epogen injections for his anemia, one shot every 3 days.
It did help. I'm glad the fluids are helping. I hope you can find another internist
to take over Fortunes care. A big kiss for him and a hug for you ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug:

So they definitely think the anemia this time is a non regenerative anemia caused by CKD?
My sweet baby Tabitha had Epogen injections first then we switched to Darbepoetin. This treatment worked very well!
