Hello everyone, I'm new to this whole spreadsheet thing. Let me know if all is well! I am unable to do checks during working hours, when my mom tried to get his BG this afternoon he was too squirmy for her (he was like that for me to this morning) the little bugger went through FIVE test strips today for only TWO BG checks! cat(2)_steam I gave him noogies but he just meowed at me and made me give him more raw kitty food. I'm such a sucker! Anyway, here's his sheet let me know what you guys think.

Hi - I am no expert, but wanted to pop on in and say HI! - I am sure others that are more in the know will be along shortly. I think you are off to a great start - truly! and five test strips for two BG's isn't all that bad. HAHA: I remember my first week. shesshhhh - it took forever just to get the technique down, get him to cooperate, even find that darn vein.... it does get easier.

I too am in the same b oat - no spot checks while at work - do the best I can, and try very hard to get a good sampling when I am home in the evening, and on weekends - it will help fill in the gaps.

Lookin' good and welcome!

welcome to Lantus Land! Looks great so far.

Please try to get into the habit of doing a before bed test every night (which is just what it sounds like, grab a test right before you go to bed). Most cats have more action at night than during the day, and especially since you can't do many daytime spot checks, the night one can be very valuable. You're doing great!

Great start with testing and building your SS.

Right now, you need to look at this period as data gathering mode. You want to fill in as much of the SS as possible -- not all in one day but across days or weeks. It's also especially important to start getting tests during the PM part of the cycle. Many of our kitties have lower numbers in the evening. Without evening tests, you're missing half of your data. That said, you are allowed to sleep!! So, it may make more sense to try to get a +9 during the AM cycle than the PM. At the very least, if you can get a before bed check every night, that would be great.

When you are home, it will also be helpful to get a 12-hour curve or a mini-curve. A full curve means testing every 2 hours; a mini-curve is testing every 3 hours.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll have to get on that once I get more strips next paycheck. Thankfully Cindy is sending me a little newbie kit with ketone sticks and some extra strips. She's a rockstar :D

Thanks to you all, and Jake thanks you ((mreow)) :dizcat :dizcat
