Skooter's we have poop condo! 03/05

Skooter ate all his breakfast this morning, lets hope he keeps it down! I will be working from home again today so I can keep an eye on him.

The only thing that concerns me now is his left front foot is where they put the IV/catheter and his right front foot and paw looks about twice the size. I am wondering if that could be from the extra fluids they gave him? Needless to say, I will be keeping an eye on it, it does not seem to bother him any. Hopefully the "swelling" or whatever it is, goes down, or I will bring him back in tomorrow to his regular vet.

Amazing what getting rid of that icky ol poop can do for his BG numbers. That 170 is after NOT getting insulin last night. I stuck with the 0.25, as I wasn't sure what he would keep down food wise today. I might give the 0.25 a few cycles to see how it goes to see if I really need to go back to the 0.50 or if that was because of his constipation.

A new kind of poop watch is taking place now, as we just have to make sure he keeps going as needed.....

Thank you again for all the support we have been given.....I cannot express how much it means to me.

Let's see what today brings!

That's a nice start for not getting a shot last night. I hope Skooter keeps surfing nice numbers and his poo gets back to normal now. I'm glad you can work from home and keep an eye on him.

Yay....overall a great Skooter report! I don't know for sure, but I would suspect the swelling is due to the fluids. Stay on that pooping track now, Skooter!!

Isn't it great when you can go "whew" and relax a tad for a while! Yes, I suspect helicopters can relax!

A vet tech once told me about "fat paw" after fluids. She suggested a gentle massage of the leg/paw to help the fluids absorb. I've never experienced it, personally, though.

Enjoy being home with the boy. Even if it is a work day.

I would bet the swelling is from fluids! Noodle had it for about 36-48 hours after leaving the hospital. I suspect Skooter's will come down quicker since he wasn't getting them for several days!

Oh Thank Goodness---- ((((Skooter!!!! )))) :bighug::bighug: Molly, you must be so relieved-- I hope you can relax a little bit, bet we all gave our kitties a 1/8 Miralax last night though!:smuggrin: Seriously, I am so happy and relieved for you, continued prayers this is all "behind" you (oh just shoot me for the bad pun)

When Tiger had her IV removed, there was a small lump on her paw as well, it seems like it went away the next day and the vet wasn't worried about it at all.

ere are some numbers I can get behind! Sticking it out with the 0.25 since he is unplugged and all that just to see if it will do the trick. If I don't get green tonight or tomorrow morning I will up back up to 0.50 at Saturday's PM cycle.

Of course, it hasn't even been 24 hours and I am freaked he hasn't poop....:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:...I must remember that 1. it has been less than 24 hours 2. there probably wasn't anything left 3. give him time to make some more

I know it is really too early, but how long until I should start getting worried again? I want to make sure I am staying on top of everything. The ER vet said to follow up with the regular vet, so I am thinking of going in on Tuesday, getting another xray and make sure all is well. I can also then talk to them about when I can schedule a dental for him.....

I don't have any experience with constipation that has needed an enema, but I am more than experienced in being a helicopter mamabean, so I can totally relate to your worry!!! Sending along hugs for you and "stay regular" vines for SkooterPie!
