Thanks for the article Wendy, it was most interesting. Of particular interest to me was that only 40% of the cats with urinary infections exhibited clinical signs and that with hyperT there can be normal resting BG and insulin concentration but abnormal glucose tolerance - he certainly seems to have abnormal tolerance given his neuropathy. Interestingly his sister was diagnosed hyperT (although she was just outside the normal range - it is her bloods I have not Purrdy's, I will get copies of his after mum goes back) just before Purrdy's FD dx. I wonder if hyperT can be brought on by external factors (will have to do some research) as they hadn't long moved house. I thought hyperT cats all lost weight but I expect upon some research I will find that's not always the case with the ECID rule. I expect I can get mum to test for these anyway so we can rule in or out.

I was also heartened to note that it's more than 1.5u/kg that's considered a problem. We're not quite there yet. Purrdy weighs in at just over 6kg so we still have a couple of increases to go to exceed that.

Meggles had a little growl at Purrdy this morning, he didn't care because it's all about breffis at that time :woot:

Vyktor's eating picked up after his second poop yesterday - yes second! I'm going to run back though his diary to see if the off eating has any correlation to when he poops. Since we've not had any issues with hard poo throughout I'm suspicious that gas could be causing his problems. That would be good since it can be treated with baby gas formula. There's no doubt that the pumpkin and coconut oil are doing wonders for him though - two good poops in one day!!!

Go Blackie go :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Interesting on the Hyper-T and abnormal glucose tolerance. I hope Purrdy isn't Hyper-T, but it would give you some answers. My Callie is Hyper-T and she didn't lose weight. ECID is so true.

I hope Purrdy gives you more green today. Yay for two poo for Vyktor.

Stu had HyperT (and also CRF) and was difficult to regulate. But there were so many other things that factored into it. He lost a lot of weight, but it was then discovered that he had cancer, too.
I hope you get it all figured out, Serryn!
Hugs and scritches,

Kevlar cycling pants? Wow! Aren't they hot?

I've seen the figure of 90% of HyperT cats lose weight. I've been researching possible environmental causes of acromegaly and came across this note on possible causes of HyperT.

Hey Purrdy, show us the green!

Minka is HyperT, and she did lose weight before we got it under control. Now it's the chemo that's making her lose weight. If it's not one thing....

Purdy's numbers are looking somewhat better - yay for that green last night! Let's see some more lagoon action, Purdy!

Hooray for Vyktor - two poos in one day??? Way to go, dude! I'm glad to hear he's eating better.

Sending good poo and appy vines for both your boys! Also some anti-growling vines for Meg (I never knew a bunny could growl!).

Yay, Vyktor! The poo dances are working for everyone.

Hopefully Purrdy shows you some more greens today. Very interesting what he's got going on here, here's to getting to the bottom of it! It must be frustrating.
