Thanks for the article Wendy, it was most interesting. Of particular interest to me was that only 40% of the cats with urinary infections exhibited clinical signs and that with hyperT there can be normal resting BG and insulin concentration but abnormal glucose tolerance - he certainly seems to have abnormal tolerance given his neuropathy. Interestingly his sister was diagnosed hyperT (although she was just outside the normal range - it is her bloods I have not Purrdy's, I will get copies of his after mum goes back) just before Purrdy's FD dx. I wonder if hyperT can be brought on by external factors (will have to do some research) as they hadn't long moved house. I thought hyperT cats all lost weight but I expect upon some research I will find that's not always the case with the ECID rule. I expect I can get mum to test for these anyway so we can rule in or out.
I was also heartened to note that it's more than 1.5u/kg that's considered a problem. We're not quite there yet. Purrdy weighs in at just over 6kg so we still have a couple of increases to go to exceed that.
Meggles had a little growl at Purrdy this morning, he didn't care because it's all about breffis at that time
Vyktor's eating picked up after his second poop yesterday - yes second! I'm going to run back though his diary to see if the off eating has any correlation to when he poops. Since we've not had any issues with hard poo throughout I'm suspicious that gas could be causing his problems. That would be good since it can be treated with baby gas formula. There's no doubt that the pumpkin and coconut oil are doing wonders for him though - two good poops in one day!!!
Go Blackie go
