Now I'm really flummoxed. Happy to see Ruby cruising in some nice greens for once but I really have no idea what might be going on because all other variables have been constant aside from the fact that DBF is away and I'm doing all of the shots as he often does it in the morning. Hmmm.

I'll be home for a little while longer and then I will be out from + 8 until PMPS. Hope she stays steady!

Have a beautiful Sunday, everyone. :bighug:

Not to hijack your thread, but had you found any other decent commercial novel protein diets? And by chance, are any low phos?

I can always do the legwork myself, but I figured you'd already done it :p

I think Mr Kitty's SCL/IBD is starting to rear it's ugly head, so first step is a diet change. I also suspect treating the hyperT will reveal kidney disease as well, so trying to stay ahead of that

I've never actually looked too deeply into novel protein low phos foods as I make my own food and choose my own proteins. I'm reintroducing turkey again now that thighs are available at my raw food purveyor because of Olive's higher kidney values--poultry tends to have lower phos than red meats. But turkey is hardly a novel protein. Ziwi makes some good novel protein foods but they are a tad on the higher side of phos. Someone pointed me to Royal Canin Multifunction renal kibble that has hydrolyzed proteins, but it's definitely a no-no for a diabetic cat. It's a tricky dance finding the right food while dealing with GI issues, diabetes, and CKD. That's why making my own food has been the best option, and even so, there's the ever finicky eater to contend with as well. I wish I could get my cats to eat goat or rabbit. :P

Not to further hijack, but Savage raw rabbit is on Susan Thixton’s list and they send a good amount of sample pouches to the stores that carry them. You could try it out risk-free. Not sure on the phos amount, but IIRC rabbit is lower than red meat, but higher than poultry?
