Zener is not having the best morning. He had a little coughing fit and threw up about a teaspoon of clear liquid. We think he might have a little asthma. Then I tested him and expected a much higher number. :-D He took the ondansetron but spit out the pill pocket with Zantac. We'll try that one again later. He didn't eat great but did finally eat a good amount in the bed with Anne (who is still asleep  ).

Today is the two year Annifursary of his diabetes diagnosis. He is doing very well, thanks to our vet and to everyone here in LantusLand. :-D :-D :-D Life is sure different now.

Healing vines to Gobbles and other ailing kitties and beans. Happy Sunday LL!
Liz

Re: 3/24 Zener AMPS 189 2 yr DX Annifursary

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY ZENER! And best wishes for lots of GREENs ahead in your new year!

Good morning, guys,

Liz, I hope that the Z Man is over his coughing spell and that he will get around to taking those pills. It's good that they can be taken on an irregular schedule. Rusty had a coughing spell this morning, too (but he just has the "pseudo-hairball" hack--no fluids). His coughing has been much more moderate since we started Allerplex.

I guess your snow is gone. Will you get out on a bike ride or a hike today, Liz? Both of you have a fine day,

Ella & Rusty

Morning Liz ~O) ~O) ~O)

HAPPY TWO YEAR ANNIFURSARY ZENER!! Wow - has it been two years? How time flies.... and I so second you comment on how different life is now, with an FD kitty.

Challenging start for you today. Z-Man: take your meds! Mannie however is on Z-man's side. spit out those pill pockets, for sure. We were playing chase the kitty with the fuds bowl this morning too. There must be a plot brewing, darn kitties.

Enjoy your day today. I hope it is a good one.

Re: 3/24 Zener AMPS 189 2 yr DX Annifursary

Good Morning and Happy 2 yr. Annifursary to Zener, but so sorry Z man is not feeling well. Sending healing and tummy vines. Sorry he may have some asthma. So cute that he eats better in bed with Anne sleeping! I think it's a comfort thing, very sweet. Have a great day and hope Zener feels better.
Thanks for checking on Mags.

It is always bittersweet to celebrate the anniversary of a kitty's FD diagnosis. At the very least, it is an occasion to celebrate your being a part of our LL community. Suggest to Zener if he feels better, he'll get some treats to celebrate!

Re: 3/24 Zener AMPS 189;+2 252 2 yr DX Annifursary

Hi Liz and Anne, sorry to hear about the coughing. Good luck with the Zantac. Maybe you could halve it and put it into two PPs?

I agree with Sienne, it's very bittersweet to celebrate the anniversary of diagnosis, but it's always wonderful to celebrate the time we get with our fur babies which excellent treatment, knowledge, and FDMB support make possible. ;-) Wishing Zener many more years of health, happiness, and love. Have a great day, guys!

Happy anniversary! Good news about this is it can be treated, and Zener is healthy. Thanks for your observation in Tess's condo, Liz. We both think that there is jealousy between Tess and Emma. They are both vying for our attention.

Happy Annifursary to Zener. He is lucky to have you both to take care of him. I hope he's feeling better this evening.

Re: 3/24 Zener AMPS 189;+2 252;+6 211 2 yr DX Annifursary

I was sad to hear Zener wasn't feeling well this morning:*( I hope Zener is feeling better tonight on his anniversary :-D

Sending feel-better vines to Zener!
And,
Happy 2nd Anniversary! Bittersweet, yes, but definitely more sweet than bitter. :-D

I hope you're all having a great evening!

Re: 3/24 Zener PMPS 206 2 yr Annifursary

The 2 year anniversary is bittersweet but I'll also call it a blessing.
Every day we get with them is a blessing. They are indeed a gift to us.

Hope Zener feels better.

Re: 3/24 Zener PMPS 206 2 yr Annifursary

Happy Anniversary. As much as we wish they weren't diabetic, there is no doubt that at least part of this diagnosis is a blessing in disguise.

I hope Z is feeling better by now, and enjoying some special anniversary treats!!

Re: 3/24 Zener PMPS 206 2 yr Annifursary

Happy Annifursary Zener! I hope you got some good food and treats to celebrate.

I'm very glad you're here with us Anne, Liz, and Zener :YMHUG: It's so nice to know you.

Re: 3/24 Zener PMPS 206 2 yr Annifursary

Happy 2nd Annifursary Zener, Anne and Liz!! I hope he feels a little better tonight and can enjoy a picnic party for dinner.

Re: 3/24 Zener PMPS 206;+2.5 175 2 yr Annifursary

Thanks to everyone for visiting Zener today on his 2nd annifursary. It is such a bittersweet thing isn't it? We know we would not still have our guy without everything we have learned here, and we are so grateful. We could not be doing this without you all. :YMHUG:

It's not been one of his better days, seems to be having some tummy issues which have been ongoing since diagnosis. The appy stimulant worked this morning and appy picked up so we could relax a little. His numbers were flat yellow, so could be interesting tonight. This is his sixth cycle since the last greens, so we may be looking at a dosecrease in the next day or two.

@Lyresa - he is feeling a little better tonight. Our weather warmed up to the 50s today, balmy.

@Ella & Rusty - we're never quite sure if it is a hairball or possible asthma. Both kitties have been eating whatever tiny blades of grass they can find in our yard lately. The cypro we use for appy stimulant is an anti-histamine and can help asthma too. Yes, our snow is long gone in town. The ski area up on the mountain is still open, but the cross country ski center is closed. Liz got out for a bike ride and I went for a nice long walk this afternoon sans coat, gloves and hat!

@Michelle & Mannie - can you believe it's been two years? Sometimes it feels like such a short time and other days we can't remember what our lives used to be like. ;-) Zener is still not that eager to eat his pill pockets, so I dusted them with fortiflora - nom, nom, nom. He may never eat them again without it.

@Ann & Maggie - thanks for the healing and tummy vines. I am glad for him to have breffis in bed with me, but I sleep through it. Zener had a "normal" poo this morning!

@Sienne & Gabby - you are so right, we shall focus on celebrating being part of this wonderful community! I wonder if pill pockets rubbed in fortiflora qualify as a treat?

@Courtney & Kismet - fortunately, Zener only takes 1/8 of a zantac tablet, it is quite small, makes me crazy when I cut them into eights! And thank you for reminding us to celebrate the time we get with our fur babies. Thank you for the many more wonderful year wishes!

@Ann & Tess - ah, I guess Zener really is pretty healthy considering the FD, CKD and GI issues. He is such a happy guy and works so hard to help us take good care of him.

@carla - thanks for your kind words about our bean-ness!

@rachel - ah, that's so sweet. Zener takes it all in stride, and is much less worried than we are. His new year's resolution for us last year was "pet more, worry less."

@Josie - thanks for the vines, and Zener is definitely a sweetheart, he's not bitter about anything!

@rhiannon - a blessing, you are so right, every day we have is a gift!

@Amy & TrixieCat - we do wish he didn't have diabetes or any of his other health conditions and that he stayed young forever! And we know that isn't the way things work, so we do our best to appreciate each and every day we all have together, always full of love!

@Dyana - no special treats for the big guy today, unless pill pocket rolled in fortiflora counts! Thanks for your kind words about getting to know us.

@Wendy & Neko - he is feeling better tonight, appy is pretty happy and he's had several picnics!

Zener had only one poo today, fully formed and "normal" for him! The petdophillis probiotics seem to be helping post dental ABs. We never could get him to take any yogurt, we even tried fortiflora on yogurt. He thought we were trying to poison him. Tillie thought it was delicious.

Wishing everyone a calm and peaceful Sunday evening in LL.

HAPPY TWO YEAR ANNIFURSARY!!

Look how far you've all come and how much you know! I remember the early days when we didn't know if he could go very low because we didn't know he'd react with his CH. and then you became pros at shooting low!

I hope he has a better day tomorrow :-D
