Yay! A good number. I literally never know what I'm gonna get, so I'm happy with this.
It's raw, wet and miserable out today. Yuck! It's a good day to be at work. :o
 
Hi Dawn-

No pukes this morning. I should probably track what flavor food I feed him versus when he pukes. It may have to do with beef. This morning I gave him Country Style Dinner (whatever the HECK that is :lol: ) and it looked beef-ish so we'll see if he pukes.

I think Nova is a really cool looking cat. I like the markings on her face. Do you have any other pictures?
 
Yeah I've read a lot about cats having beef sensitivities.. keeping track would be a really good idea.

Do I have any more pictures .. hahahahaha.. ok.. I narrowed it down to JUST 4 ;).. her markings are mostly a pretty dark orange.. so I just uploaded ones in bright light so they are easier to see. There's a lot of action on her left side, but her right side isn't all that exciting (still pretty though :) ). I brush her back about a million times a day (it's her favourite thing) so her fur on her back looks pretty short and under control.. it's most definitely not, she is ALL fur.

Your turn to share! I want hm.. a close up of that adorable face of his.. and a good shot of his body.. at a minimum! It's hard to tell from the little profile pic but it looks like he might have different colours on the same piece of fur?
 
Wow! Very pretty. I've never known a torti cat before. My BF calls them brindle (he's a dog person) and I tell him that in the cat world it's called torti and most of them are girls.

Here's a closeup of his face from my avitar. I tried using the tool in Photobucket to modify it but it looks a little funny. He's wite with light orange on his points.

Finally I get to see some close up of Boomer. His profile pic is adorable and he is adorable for sure. Dawn - that last picture of Nova where she is laid out on her back is precious. Ahem...I don't think she is short haired. :roll:
 
I thought he looked a little cross-eyed in the profile picture.. does he always have that "I'm up to no good" look?? I thought his eyes were blue.. what colour are they?? grey maybe? Don't think I've ever seen a light coloured cat with eyes like his. His face markings are really beautiful, he's so symmetrical! Need more full body shots though!

Torties are pretty neat.. I've read about it a lot.. but some of it is over my head.. my understanding is that since Nova is a girl she has 2 X chromosomes. one X chromosone has the coat colouring bits of black and the other orange.. but only one can be active at a time. At some point when she was in the womb, the one that was off randomly switched on, and the one that was on, switched off and that's how she ended up with black and orange.

Apparently if I cloned her, I would get either a black or an orange cat (whichever ended up being active second), not another tortie. And I think that's pretty cool :) (I tell her all the time how unique she is :) ). There's some interesting stuff on it out there, because I guess it's genetically similar to some sort of skin condition that people can get.

It's thought that there are other side-effects of this "X-inactivation", but I don't think it's all been figured out yet. I've had two torties, and both were trouble makers, talkative and love water.. not sure if it's a coincidence or not.. but I know torties have a rep for being mischievous :).

Boys are rarely torties because you need two X chromosomes I guess.. boys can occasionally be XXY instead of XY, both cats and people..sometimes that has some side effects (sterility, etc), sometimes no side effects at all. I think male Calico's (tortie + white) might be more common.. so calico probably works differently, haven't read up on it.

Aaah my nerd shines through.. was only so long I could hide it! :)

Yeah you and me both! Domestic Short Hair .. what a bunch of baloney .. She's not very domestic either.. she hardly does any house work at all! :). I brush enough fur off this cat to make a new cat every 3 days..

Boomer's eyes are light blue. My computer at home sucks and that's where I have most of the photos - I need to upload them to PhotoBucket but it takes forever! I don't think I've got a full body shot but I'll check. Boomer's nicknames are "Drama" and "Mumbles" because he constantly is making funny noises and when he wants food he turns on the drama - a different meow that sounds alarming - like he's hurt. :lol:

I like the photo of Nova laying on her back too. I've never had a cat who did that! It's very sweet. Her belly fur looks longer than in other places. How did she get her name?

(I'm so upset you'd think I was looking at a scale and this was my weight or something!)

I had trouble with my syringe tonight. I just couldn't get a drop unless I brought the plunger down to the first half unit line. It was crazy. I'll bet I gave him a fur shot of no insulin.

I need more patience!

His eyes really are amazing.. very pretty (it's ok Boomer, I mean pretty in a manly killing bad guys sort of way :) ).. Yeah he looks like the type of cat who could be chatty and have lots of opinions :).

Well I think every day, you should upload 1 picture, and post it on your condo :).

Her on the back cute is nothing.. sometimes (when she's dreaming) her back legs dance.. I can't find a recent video.. but it is a fairly regular occurrence (happened earlier today).. I uploaded it to youtube but it takes a while to process.. will smick it in her condo tomorrow to show off her cute I guess :)

Nova is named after a supernova star. A star that keeps getting brighter and brighter and then explodes.. she came with a whole slew of behavioral (suspected abusive past) and health issues.. I could already see her coming out of her terrified and timid shell little bit by little bit in the first week or two we got to know each other and tried to find a name to properly capture what I saw her life with me to be like... it took a lot of work and the help of an animal behaviorist to turn her into the beautiful, loud, demanding, "this is my house, you're lucky I let you live here" - bit** she is today :).

What about Boomer? Because of his yelling or is he an australian kangaroo (I think they call them boomers?) ? :).
 
As for his +3.. start looking for barfs! Maybe he's got another on the way :(.

As for measuring 1 drop.. that's simply ridiculous.. I had enough problems coming up with a proper fat 1U tonight.. I can't even imagine 1 drop!
