The transfer to raw is slow going. I ended up cooking the bison with some ground beef and just putting it out. Seems like everyone but one is liking it. It took Jones seeing his sister eating eat before he thought he should have a try. So, I have moved from just a bowl hanging out with the cooked stuff as a treat and putting it in their respective feeders. Will give that a few more days then move to cooking it less till it is just being warmed up and slowly just remove the beef.

Still trying to figure out what supplement will be required as a lot of them contain the green lipped mussels which is on his red zone list for allergies. We are on the Carnivora bison whole bison patties. Which is whole carcass meal.

Another topic is the insulin dosage. He seems to be dropping down low and then min-bouncing. His appetite is good overall. I set my phone for a +6 check last night but somehow didn't do that right and even cleared my daily alarm so slept in this morning and gave his shot 15 mins late. I was very curious as to the affect of the pred as that +3 is not normal for the night cycle. I will be testing more often over the week to get that +6.

I am now down to .1u less 4 drops, which at the most is 1-3 drops of insulin with the irregularities of the syringes. So do I just go to a drop, or just keep doing what I am doing and lose another drop after he goes below 90? I am feeling that last bit of prednisolone is really preventing us from going OTJ. My plan was to change his diet to raw and proteins on his green list and then start reducing the medications. Just so I know if there is changes in poop, vomiting, eating I know what I changed.

Other than that, all is going well.

Safe surging every one.

Regarding food, have you looked at the ingredients in TC Feline premix? There are a couple on Jones' neutral list, but I think it's otherwise OK. If you go that route, you can get duck eggs (or quail eggs) instead of chicken to add. Although seasonally this isn't the best time of year to pick up duck eggs. The other option is to follow the directions on the catinfo website for making your own and adding your own supplements.

I can't remember and I'm pretty sure I've asked about this before, but did you talk to your vet about moving to budesonide instead of prednisolone? Budesonide doesn't have the same blood sugar impact that pred does. And the small cell lymphoma list I'm on recommends that for kitties who get diabetes.

I think with dose you should proceed as you have been doing. Most kitties that are ready to try going without insulin are solid green, or darn close to it. Jones looks like he needs a bit more support yet. Maybe it's the pred, but regardless he doens't seem quite there yet. He does look really well regulated, and for a cat on prednisolone he does look really good.

I will look into the TC Feline, I am sure you mentioned it before and I apologize for forgetting about it. :facepalm: We have quail eggs at my local food store - go figure. $6 bucks for 18 small little eggs.

Budesonide
I have asked her twice now but she was very reluctant because of the suspected lymphoma. But then we got the blood work back last week and she indicated we can try to drop all meds slowly. o_O So....I could ask again.

I will keep dropping a drop - not a lot of drops left! I will hold on current dose though for a couple more cycles though, drain what little depot he has. He is on so little pred now.

I need more time...tax season is upon us and I really want to sit down with food and his allergy list and make up a spreadsheet. :bookworm:

I think adding budesonde would be better than no prednolone. Neko also had suspected lymphoma and that was what she was on. Couldn't do pred due to her heart.

Aack! :arghh::eek:
