Another good start for Crystal, blues all AM cycle except for a slight blip at +2. Very cold and grey here (no chance to see the solar eclispe this morning) so all 4 cats snuggled down on their beds, waiting for the fire to be lit. Managed to get the coconut oil, at least I think so. Had to ask for it and I couldn't find it anywhere in the Bio shop but it was with the cream and cheese. It looks like white thick candlewax but says 100% pure bio coconut oil and something about it becoming liquid at over 25 degrees, so I hope I have the right stuff. The assistant was amazed when I told her what I wanted it for, no doubt she will be repeating the story about some mad English cat lady to her friends. Anyway, I shall wait for it to melt a bit and then introduce it to Crystal's food - smells a bit like a pina colada cocktail so not sure how she will take it. Interesting shop and I managed to find some bio cat food produced by company in Holland, so I bought a can to see if Crystal likes it. Going to have a look on their website later but all the ingredients and percentages are listed on the can and it sounds good, will make a change from raw chicken every day.

I checked with the company, Tatzenladen, that produces the powdered supplement mix that I add to the raw chicken and they also sell dried psyllium and dried pumpkin so I can add them to my next order if the coconut oil doesn't work. They are based in Germany (have an English option on their website) so might be of interest to anyone else in the UK/Europe.

Toby will eat coconut oil right off the spoon doesn't even need to be melted. Sounds like Crystal is doing good so glad for you Suki.

I use coconut oil for just about everything, it is much healthier for you than other types of oil. The first time I got it I didn't know it solidified and I thought it went bad, because when it arrived it was hot outside and it was liquid when the package came. Now I know and I just warm it in the microwave if I need it liquid.

Happy to see that Crystal is finally seeing some better numbers. All those higher numbers were stressing me out and Crystal isn't even my cat. LOL!

LOVING the SS!!! When you scroll through her SS, look at the differences in the colors as you scroll down!!! This is a HUGE transformation. Not too much movement from this dose, just a very good range during the cycle. With ProZinc we used to expect 50--60% drop. Levemir tends to be flatter, so you're getting exactly what you should be hoping for. Now with smaller increases, you can push the envelope a little tighter - IF you are comfortable with doing so and if you're around to watch.

I'm really thrilled with the success you're having. You're doing a GREAT job!!!

@Peg and Toby, @Sandy and Black Kitty, @Tina & Sammy, @Grayson & Lu, thank you all so much for your kind words of encouragement, I am really pleased with Crystal at the moment, I never thought for a moment we would be seeing these good numbers. Tina, is it okay to keep the coconut oil out or is it best kept in the fridge and zapped in the microwave when needed? Sorry Crystal has caused you stress, I know, we all get so tied up with our extended feline family. I know when Suzanne's Cobb passed recently I was so upset, my DH couldn't understand why I was crying for a cat I had never met! Lu-Ann, I might feel brave enough to go another small increase over the weekend, we are home both nights so I can watch her.
She's doing well today, lots of snuggles and has just managed to sneak a little filet mignon as a treat, a very French mademoiselle tonight.
à bientôt

Look at all that time under renal threshold - exactly where you want to be. :)

I just keep my coconut oil in the pantry. I put a small amount in a tiny jar and put that in hot water if I want to melt it. In the summer it self melts. I don't use the microwave. But both Neko and civie Theo will take it solid.

Bon soir!

I don't refrigerate my coconut oil, but in the winter it does solidify. In the summer 9 times out of 10 it is liquid enough for me to just pour. I also have some that doesn't solidify, and has no flavor. That is what I use most when I am frying or sauté' something.

Looking good Crystal! :cool::cool:
That is great you found the coconut oil- I do the same as Wendy-I store it in the pantry. (When cold, it does look like wax!) She only needs a very tiny dot, no more than 1/16 of a teaspoon to start. It will melt on your finger, Tiger will lick it off my fingers but be careful that she doesn't choke on it. Oil aspiration can cause aspiration pneumonia, just the same as Mineral Oil or Parrafin, as we were discussing yesterday. I would still increase the amount of Miralax she is getting by just a bit as well. Crystal is really looking good though- congrats!
