It's a mixed bag with Trix today....mostly good stuff, but MamaBean still isn't totally comfy. When I got up this morning, she was waiting outside the bedroom; she followed me down, got my morning snuggles, and she was very impatient with her pre-breffis pokey because she wanted to eat!

But her appy is definitely not where I like seeing it....she IS eating, just not with the gusto I'm used to. I may break out the syringes tonight and do a little assist feeding; I'd like to see her get a few more calories, and it does seem like assist-feeding acts like an appy stimulant for her.

She also had moments last evening where she looked like she didn't feel well....very similar trend to how things went back in January. Hopefully we'll follow the same course as we did in January - when she felt awesome once this "thing" passed.

I do think Elise is probably right...I think it is most likely a p-titis flare brought on by vetty stress. It's just too much of a coincidence that her feeling crappy about 2-4 days after a blood/urine draw has happened several times now. I wish there was a way to know for sure, but vetty doesn't like the p-titis tests (she used to use them, but found that if anything else was going on within the cat that the results were inaccurate, so she stopped using them), plus I wouldn't want to take Trix back for yet another draw and ask for more trouble anyway.

We did get the culture results back and everything was negative this time, so we managed to clear the enterrococus (apparently it's hard to clear this particular bacteria). Vetty wants to recheck in 6 weeks to make sure it's still gone, but I'm going to talk to her about skipping that unless I see any sort of issues. I just don't want to cause yet another set back if it's avoidable.

I just had a feeling we were going to rock the boat by taking her last week....it could be worse, that's for sure, but she was feeling SO good before we went that night, and now she only feels "meh".

On top of Trix, civvie Noah is having an issue with his toe. It doesn't seem to be bothering him, but I noticed that his foot was "clicking" when he walked. I've been trying to get a good look at it for about week now, but he's wanted nothing to do with that. I finally saw it today, though, and it looks like his claw has grown into his toe pad. I'm amazed that this doesn't seem to bother him - he's not biting at it, not limping, and it it doesn't stop him from racing around the house like a crazy cat. But obviously a vetty visit is in order :(....unless it starts bothering him, it probably won't be until Wednesday evening, when "our" vetty is back in the office.

And I'm stuck at work by myself today, so I can't go check on Trix (although DH is home - but he's not a helicopter like am. Probably a good thing ...), and it's snowing even though it's supposed to be sunny :(:confused:....I'm generally in a bummed-n-stressed mood.....it will pass, but it's where I'm at right now. Big sigh.

Guess I'd better get working. Sending extra prayers out to Skooter and Shasta today....feel better kitties....

Have a great day, L&LL!

Amy

Morning Amy :coffee::coffee::coffee:

I had wondered too about the p'titis flare. I sometimes think our kitties have them more often that any of us realize. It seems plausible, since you notice the same responses from her with each visit in the past. Interesting on your vets view of the P'titis tests. Well, maybe just treat Trixie as if it was a flare and go from there. I hope all is all back to normal soon. it sounds like she is on her way.

Bummer on Noah's toe! One would think that would hurt. Could luck too with that pending vetty visit.

Have a great day today. I hope the snow isn't too much of a nuisance. Bring on Spring, huh... it is March after all! :)

Sorry to hear that Trixie's appy isn't the best. I know what you mean though, the is usually the first thing I notice when Sammy isn't feeling 100%. Hopefully the assisted feeding will help.

Hope your day only gets better from here.

Hi Amy.

I'm sorry to hear that Trixie is having what I hope is a mini-flare. Sending lots of healing vines and appy vines for her.

Ow! On Noah's foot. That happened to our GA Civvie, Kisa, and the vet took care of it, but one thing she told us to do was to not use clay litters for him for a couple of week, until it healed, so as to avoid dirt and dust getting into the wound and causing infection. She recommended the newspaper kind, which none of us really liked, but we isolated Kisa and he had to use it, so he did. He recovered after 10 days or so with no other issues. Sending vines for Noah, too.

Sorry about the snow - wish you could send it to me! ;) I didn't get nearly enough in Reno! :joyful::rolleyes:

We use corn litter....don't know if that would make a difference or not. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. If we had to isolate anyone, it would send my stress levels absolutely through the roof - they are all way to interactive with us and each other and isolation like that would be one of my worst nightmares. I remember the night before Petey had his dental - he had to fast and just wanted to eat - and all them are used to snacking throughout the evening. I couldn't handle the stress....I had to just sit in silence in our master bedroom - literally until the next morning!

Fortunately the snow was short-lived - but it was squalling like crazy. And now DH says we're getting 3-5 Wednesday night. UGH.

Corn litter might be just fine. I'd ask the vet when you take him in. We only isolated him because we didn't want to switch every box in the house to newspaper. I didn't mean to add to your stress!:(

they have pills for that..... , you know....
I should know..... I'm perturbed at friends for not telling me I was anxious. :arghh:

sending Trixie feel better and eat vines.....
sending you calming vines....

Sending prayers for Trixie. I hope she starts feeling better soon.

Poor Noah. I had that to one of my kitties. After the vet removed it and cleaned it up, she told me to soak her paw in Epson Salt for 5 minutes a day until it healed.

Yay for a negative culture.

While we're all confessing to our bad bean for not trimming the nails stories - that happened to Vyktor too, while we were dealing with the diabetes everything else kind of went by the wayside  only his was 'fixed' by the time I discovered it so he now has a little piece of nail permanently stuck in his pad. Doesn't seem to bother him. When I noticed it I tried to tug it out with some tweezers but it was firmly grown in by then.

Please thank Noah for the reminder, my guys are due for their quarterly trim!

I think an adult beverage is in order! At least that's something you can do something about:p!

I hope tomorrow will be a brighter day for you, Amy.

Here it's been snowing and squalling all day. Now the moon--almost full--is hanging like a floodlight in the sky. Going down to zero tonight.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

I'm one step ahead of ya, Ella! One adult beverage (in the form of cheap Trader Joe's wine) on board has produced a slightly calmer bean....that, and Trix's appy does seem happier tonight, too.

Of course, though, we just finished a "winter storm warning" at 4:00am this morning, and another one is already looming on the horizon. C'mon, spring!!!!

Breathe. Have another $2 buck chuck (which by now is probably much more!).

Trixie, come on back. Eat those noms. With gusto. Find the spark. Let it shine. Mamabean worries, you know. Help her out.

Amy, sure hope whatever it is passes quickly and you get the happy appy, mischievous, exploring little spunky girl back in action soon.

Marilyn and Polly

Vines coming for an improved appetite! What a catch-22....bring Trixie in to monitor all of her heath concerns, only to have that possibly contribute to a p-titis flare. Ack. Stuck between a rock and hard-place on that. Glad to read that the culture was clear and that the enterrococus seems to be gone.

On the upside, it looks like Trixie's little powerhouse of a pancreas just keeps trucking right along! :D

I definitely hear you on wishing for Spring's arrival!
