Hello.
we just returned from Albuquerque ( 1 hr 45 min drive) from an internal medicine vet.
I liked him mostly.
Even though Shadow probably would have laid still, he sedated her ( twilight ) , she had a personal anesthesiologist watching....
He said he likes for them not to squirm and sometimes he presses hard to get a better view.
They had pre-agreed that I could be in there but they made me stay out until they had the iv in, and she was sedated. I've never seen her lay so perfectly on her back ( cradled by a special pillow) with her little feet in the air. such a cutie....
I will have the write up in a couple of days but basically everything was the same.... thickened small intestine.
He wasn't so concerned about her pylorus .... said that and the stomach are often thicker in u/s because of the limits of that kind of view . He said often lymph nodes can enlarge due to inflammation even with IBD. So the lymph nodes don't necessarily mean cancer.
He did draw blood in my absence while they prepped her to run some specialized test ( said only one lab in the country does it) that is a better determining tool for ibd vs lymphoma.
I know it was $200 of her $890 bill.
so I'm broke.......
but I sure would like to know.
I'll tell you the name of the test when I get the print out.
anyway, I let her roam in the car, doors locked, both ways ..... she's a bit vocal and clingy.... following me wherever I go currently, very lovey dovey.... can't complain about that.
licking all her shaved spots, especially her foot where the iv was.....
he did make me feel better about what's going on.....
bring on the ktss......

It does sound like a more positive second opinion. Now I'm curious about the specialized test too as it seems a number of kitties here face that same question.
