Yesterday on The Marvelous Miss Ruby. :cat:

Before I tested her for her AMPS, Ruby spent about 10 minutes in the litterbox, fussing and scratching. She produced a poop (more details on the SS, for the curious and less squeamish) after what might have been 5 days. I know cats on raw foods poop less, but pushing that out might have caused this crazy high "I was dragged to the vet" sort of BG reading. I tested twice to be sure I didn't have a wonky strip.

Just received Adored Beast Healthy Gut and started adding it to Ruby's meal this morning. Will add this to her food for a week to make sure she's ok with it and then will start to add Visbiome probiotics, as the two in combination are supposed to work really well.

Healing thoughts for all of the sick kitties and hugs to you beans. Happy Thursday, everybodee. :bighug::bighug:

Hi Katherine, can’t sleep so I thought I’d check on Ruby. Her numbers are are beautiful, great job Ruby and mom. I see you are starting to brush her teeth. Just wanted to tell you what we did with Dolly who now has not too many left. 4 years ago after her last dental it was suggested we start using a water additive for dental. Four years later not one dental, no receding gums,no gingivitis. I do not brush her teeth. Perfect exams for four years. Anyway, just a thought. Same results with our kitty Funny Face who crossed the rainbow bridge Have a beautiful day you two View attachment 60205
Thanks you for this Adrienne! I will look into this. Anything to avoid brushing Ruby's teeth would be great!!! Hope you got to sleep. :bighug::bighug:

:joyful: Katherine, did you seriously weigh Ruby’s poop? Your SS says it weighed 1/4 lb! Or was that a joke.

I am impressed with Ruby’s numbers!
I did indeed. I was writing this post as you peeked so you were not forewarned. I'm sorry. I was so shocked by how big it was that yes, I put it in a poop bag and weighed it on the kitchen scale. I needed to know.

Poor girl. She must feel very relieved. Even for raw fed, 5 days is a long time to go without pooping.
If you had been able to test her BG prior to her pooping, it would've been interesting to see what that number would've been.
Have a great day!

It's funny because last night I was reading a post by @Liz & Minnie who said her diabetic friend told her that having a BM would lower BGs because it would induce the body to produce insulin. I was waiting for Ruby to do her thing in the LB this morning and thinking I would be getting a nice green number! She ate all of her AMPS meal quickly so she must be feeling better, poor thing!

My raw fed girls go every other day and about as much or less than my previous ones that ate canned and dry. Do you add a little pumpkin or Miralax to her food? Which raw is she getting now?

To be honest since Ruby shares her LB with Olive, I can never be 100% certain that Ruby poops unless I see her do it, which I did this morning, so maybe it wasn't 5 days but it could have been. I ran out of Miralax two days ago and only replenished supply last night, which is probably why she had her BM this morning. Ruby doesn't like pumpkin. I stopped the SEB when her appetite got better but maybe I'll put some in her food regularly to help bulk things up.

Currently I am feeding boneless ground turkey and bison with EZ Complete, with Primal freeze dried rabbit and venison in small amounts as a topper to keep textures interesting. I am making a batch of fresh boneless ground venison tonight to see if Ruby likes the gamey meats. :cat:

Goodness! That's one for the record books!
It's funny with our spreadsheets and tracking food etc. it makes you want to get more precise about the poops too. Our spreadsheets must look absolutely insane to non-diabetic cat parents. :woot:

Hi Katherine, that was one massive poop lol.
Ruby must have felt so good after that.
Nice numbers after her AMPS
Happy to hear she ate all of her meal
Talking about poop doesn't bother me at all lol
Have a good day Katherine, surf safely Ruby girl ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug:

I just want to say you are a terrific, dedicated cat momma to weigh her girl's poop and make sure everything is copasetic. That's love!

This is why I love this forum! :p My DBF will not allow me to talk about cat poop at all, it embarrasses him to no end.

DH and I NEVER spoke about bathroom stuff, but with the kitties it's all out there. When it's your babies, you get over the gross real quick :p
