Quincy vomited a 1/2 hour before his AMBG test, so I knew a higher number was coming. It was mainly clear liquid, but also had a tiny hairball. Seems fine now, has eaten 2x today already. I'm working from home so plan on getting a +6 or +7 today just to make sure he's still green.

I'm starting to think testing him at 5:30am (closer to 6am today due to the vomiting) is probably catching him at the highest time of the day. So many times the test comes after either a BM or some vomiting. I guess it's good for me to see Quincy's BG at his highest, and that it's at least in the normal range most of the time, though. And hopefully as time passes, it may come down a bit.

Quincy's pancreas has gotten a lot of work during this trial - he's vomited three separate mornings, and come back down each time (though last Sat was a bit different), plus it had to fight against the cupcake Quincy ate too!

Sorry about the pukus! He seems to be handling things very well, though! And he's at the end of his trial!!! YAY!!!! Go Quincy!

I would think a non diabetic cat might have those same numbers after puking. I would try to check him before his puke times to see how much the puking is really effecting his numbers. That way you could get a better idea of what is really happening.
Good luck and congrats on day 13.
Tasha & I are right behind you on day 9 1/2-10.

I wish I had that power of prediction. Then I'd also be armed with paper towels and Nature's Miracle for speedy clean up! :-)
I see your point though - I wish I could know where his BG was maybe an hour before.

Well, at least his +7 was 73, so he brought himself down again. I think tonight I am going to set my alarm for 1:30, give him a snack rather than rely on the timer, and hopefully set him up for a good AMBG number on day 14 of his trial!

Re: 3/17 Quincy OTJ Trial Day 13 AM vomit, AMBG 123, PMBG 85

Today's recap:

Vomited liquid and tiny hairball 1/2 hour before AMBG test
AMBG~123 (fed breakfast)
+3~92 (fed snack)
+7~73 (fed snack)
(snack around +9.5 timeframe)
PMBG~85

I hope Quincy has a restful night with no GI issues so that we have a great AMBG to start day 14! As I mentioned in an earlier note, I'm setting the alarm to get up and give him a snack 4 hours before his AMBG test instead of relying on the timer, which he actually broke into last night an hour early. Quincy is VERY determined when it comes to food!

Stopping in to see how Quincy is doing today and I see he is doing wonderfully! AMBG reflecting vomiting....we know that....but he brought himself down!!

A very very nice Day 13!!! So, Guys, Happy Day 13!!!
