3/14 Sunny AMPS 116

@Hshray do you leave food out for George overnight? I always have some lc food for Sunny on a timed feeder overnight, as I was always worried he would have a steep drop while I'm sleeping, but I'm less worried about that now that he's stopped having the steep dives. I'm trying to cut down on his overall food intake, to get some weight off. Just wondering how you handle the overnight routine with George. :cat:

I do still leave food out overnight and he usually eats it all haha. He seems to eat way more overnight than during the day actually. He likes to wake me up in the middle of the night too so that’s one reason I don’t think I would be able to get away from it. It is nice to not have to worry so much about the steep drops, although I’m personally wondering if I should start getting some more middle of the night tests with this recent increase and what looks like some bouncing. May be worth a shot experimenting with Sunny’s feeder…do you usually leave the food out until two hours before short time or have it pulled earlier?

Thanks @Hshray I am careful that he doesn't have access to food in his 2 hour window before his shots, but probably i should make sure there's more fasting time before his AMPS. I experimented today and fed him 2 meals (each 45 calories) in the am cycle as usual and then a half portion (22.5 calories) in the early afternoon just around +6, and only gave him a few LC treats in the 2nd half of the cycle. He normally eats another 45 calorie meal at about +9. He's normally ravenous all day but that has really calmed down now that his numbers are mellowing out. I made him wait until PS tonight for more food. And look at his PMPS! 83. I will put out 45 calories of food for him tonight too. Glad to know that you do that too. That's helpful. It does sound like another overnight test for George would be good idea now. He looks like he's gearing up for a reduction one way or another.:cat:
Thank you for your input!

Wow nice cycle today and nice PMPS! That’s good that his appetite is calming down, and seems like today’s experiment with the meals was a success! It’s so interesting to see how everyone does it. I haven’t experimented with George’s times at all, mostly because I think he’ll drive me nuts if I try to regulate it more haha. So I’ve always just left the food out until two hours before shot time. He has different attention getting tactics depending on whether it’s day time or night time

Everyone does seem to do it differently. I wish I could just leave food out for Sunny, but he scarfs everything available immediately. Lol
George has you wrapped around his little paw:cat:
Does he get cranky if he doesn't have food when he wants? Sunny will harass the other cats if he's hangry. He's like Biff from Back to the Future. Lol

Oh he definitely does haha. He almost never begs for food during the day unless he’s dropping, but he definitely knows how to beg for attention and toys. At night it’s another story though…he likes to jump on and off the bed until we wake up and go check his food bowl. Hopefully a habit we can get him to stop one day!
