Going to definitely increase Ruby today at PMPS unless she tells me otherwise. We can push those numbers a tinge lower safely, methinks. :)

Spring? I sure can’t tell the last few days!

How’s the hydrolyzed diet going with Olive? I saw this information this morning on another group, so I copied it out for you. Here it is:

“My kitty Oscar has IBD, triaditis and kidney disease. A few things that I have found that are helpful…..
Royal Canin Selected Protein PR or PV, also Hill's makes a canned hydrolyzed protein, it's the only canned HP diet that I know of. I don't like the dried HP diets as they often use soy protein, as I'm sure you're aware cats didn't evolve to digest soy protein.”

I read this and thought about you. You most likely already know about it anyway!
Thank you, Suzanne! I have been considering the Hill's ZD wet food for Olive. She's been eating the kibble and is not the biggest fan. I have a split bowl like this one where I put the ZD on one side and raw food in the other, and she eats all of the raw still and leaves a bit of kibble. I wish I could get just a can or two of the ZD to try rather than buying a whole case of it because it's so expensive and takes up so much room! Blue Buffalo also makes a hydrolyzed canned food that I have been considering as at least the first ingredient is meat (hydrolyzed salmon).

Hi Katherine - we use Hill's ZD wet as Callie's HC. I'd be happy to send you a couple of cans to try with Olive if you want to DM an address for me to send them to.

As you probably already know, it isn't great in terms of nutrition, carbs, texture, smell etc... but we're been lucky in that Callie will eat it (she even LIKES it now that it is a "forbidden" and not an "every day" food) and it is one of the only canned foods we found that doesn't seem to trigger her allergies.

Ruby has gone on a descent today. I'm so glad DBF was home and tested her at +9 to get that green. Dosecrease threat works every single time!

I came home to find diarrhea in the box that I know is Olive's. I'm going to stop feeding her the raw to see how she fares.

I'm so glad to hear that Callie likes the ZD. I will definitely DM you!

I noticed PetSmart here has all the prescription food in cases AND single cans for purchase. Good luck with the food, and the possible increase.
How does that work? Would i have to bring the prescription to the store? I've never bought food that needed vet authorization before.

Hi Ruby and Katherine :bighug: Nice cycle today :D

Would i have to bring the prescription to the store?
Yup! You usually check-in at the vet part of the store and they add it to their system and then you are good to go. FWIW, my vet sells individual cans of rx food in case you hadn't asked them (in fact, they usually give me one ("sample") for free...I've also been at my vet for a long time lol). Hope Olive feels better :bighug:

Hi Susanne! Thanks for checking in on us! My vet doesn’t carry canned food for dogs or cats sadly or else I would have gotten it from them. So much easier than getting it mailed to me. They have piles of kibble bags though. Hope you and Benji and the whole fam are well!

Ruby had a hard day. :p

Hey Ruby, not sure one lonely green is enough to prevent an increase! (make sure she reads that).

Good luck with the z/d experiment. Saw many a cat at the shelter turn their nose up at it. Try smelling it yourself. The vet should refund you the rest of the case should Olive decides it's a no go.

You'd bring it to the store, or call them beforehand and they will call your vet to get the pre-auth. I tried buying a single can and it gets flagged for needing a scrip once they scan it at checkout.
It's ridiculous, like the RX food is a controlled substance. I'm not trying to get Oxy, it's freaking cat food.
