Another rough week or so for us.....what began as one thing seems to have turned into another with her lack of eating as much. On Feb 9, Jade started a higher dose of thyroid meds and a transdermal gel instead of the compounded chews or pills. I ordered the meds from chewy.com. Her appetite continued to decrease and I could tell she was losing weight so this past Monday I had the vet come for blood work. She called on tuesday and said that Jades thyroid level was at 4.9 on January 21 and is now coming in at "greater than 15" which is AWFUL!! This basically means I was giving her what amounts to a placebo med for over a month. Jade is sick and fading away. She isn't eating much at all. I do have an rx being compounded from Wedgewood pharmacy but I'm just a wreck over this entire situation.

Did the vet notice anything else in her bloodwork? I would think she would be more hungry rather than less if her thyroid wasn’t being suppressed. I hope you get the new medication soon!

Any abnormalities on the blood work she says could directly be related to the lack of meds. The Wedgewood came today and I have already given her first dose. I have no idea how long it takes to kick in. I gave her some rotisserie chicken meat and she did eat a bit. She’s also started to drink milk again. She used to love it and then she didn’t. Finicky girl. Her appetite is pretty much nil today. I went and got the chicken and some salmon to try. I really don’t want to force feed her as we have had so many food time issues. If it’s going to save her life, I will tho. But, honestly that brings up the quality of life issue for me. What kind of life is that for her? Always stressed, nervous and being poked with lancets several times a day. I see her growing weary. She also seems confused today. She walks to her bowl like she’s hungry and when I put food in it, she ignores it completely. Like she doesn’t even see it. I would wonder if she’s having a hard time seeing if it weren’t for the fact that she has a laser light toy that she follows.

Do you buy the lactose free milk like FairLife (or LactAid) or can she just have the regular milk? If she doesn't get diarrhea from it and she enjoys it, then I think that's a good thing. Extra calories and protein.
I was giving her 2% but got some whole milk today for the calories. She’s never had an issue with diarrhea from it, knock on wood. I don’t think I’ll be able to shoot tonight. She really hasn’t eaten enough. Perhaps that will change as the afternoon/ evening progresses. I hope so.

She’s definitely comfortable while watching her IPad. Waiting to see if she’ll eat so I can shoot.
