Good luck with the vet visit Patricia. Teeth issues could be one reason why she doesn't want to eat.
Regards Onisor, it is used only in the very short term with cats. Say after recovering from a surgery etc. The most commonly used pain med in cats is Buprenorphine. Will your vet give you a script for Ondansetron (for nausea - works differently from Cerenia) and Bupe? After reading the primer on pancreatitis, do you think Whisky could be having flares of pancreatitis that cause her to feel unwell and inappetent?
Thanks for this, I'll ask about Ondansetron, and Buprenorphine, they sound like a useful addition to the meds arsenal.
The reason I thought of Onsior is because I have it on hand for George, our other cat for the times when CBD doesn't help with his arthritis and he's really battling.
I'm honestly not sure about pancreatitis, Whiskey is one of those rare cats that has no issues with showing that she's uncomfortable, and even yesterday when she didn't want to eat she was definitely not showing any signs of that.
She goes through phases of being 'off' the food she usually eats with glee, and then it is a guessing game to figure out what she will eat for a while until she goes back to the previous favorites.
Yesterday I gave her something new, a beef pate and she vomited it up and was off after, so I think that may well be the cause of the problem we had yesterday. I'm beginning to realize that she doesn't tolerate beef, so will avoid it going forward.
But I did have a good look in her mouth this morning and realized that there may be a problem with her teeth as there are some very red spots on her gums that I want them to check. If she needs a cleaning or some extractions I'll schedule them and make sure that her food and lantus is appropriately managed before she goes in for it.
If course, a possible tooth infection or issue may also be why she's dropped out of remission, and I should have checked that earlier!
