Good morning LL!! ~O) ~O) ~O)

Woke up this morning surrounded by sleepy kitties, so I couldn't resist tapping the ol snooze bar for a few extra minutes. 10 minutes later I heard the strangest sounds & Bee was gone from the bed. At first I thought she was playing in her fav grocery bag, but that's not where the sounds were coming from. Bee had trapped herself inside the laundry closet between the wall & the washing machine!!!  I have no idea how she got herself into that mess but it was no easy feat getting her out. I had to crawl on top of the machine & ... with my bum in the air... reach down and grab her by the scruff of the neck!! It seems rather comical now, but what if she had done that while I was tbp & she was without food & water. ohmygod_smile That door will stay closed from now on!!!

On a more serious note, Bee has me really concerned with her numbers. Last night she hit her highest reading since she was dx at the vet & this morning is no better. The only things that have changed are the new pen (started 2/2) and the addition of the Merrick Turducken. I fattened her dose a tiny bit this morning but can only be around til a +2 reading.

I feel so sad for Bee.

Hmmmm. Could the pen be bad? It looks like the pinks have popped up since you switched. Looking at the ss, it's really hard to tell, but if it's the only variable, I think it's possible. Could these pink numbers be evidence of rebounds? There aren't many checks in the past week to say either way, but I think that could be possible too.

Don't be too sad, you are doing a great job. Maybe Bee's antic's in the laundry room this morning were meant to cheer you up. I'd make sure to leave the door closed too.

Well here we go with the pinks again!

I've been wondering about the pen too, Sara. Bee's numbers were going up beforehand though & that's why we switched from her vial. I do think she's rebounding. From what to what is the question. I missed Bee's spot checks for several days during Mom's move, but am trying to get back on track with the tests.

I hope the fattened dose doesn't make the bounce worse today. I'll be tbp until almost PMPS. Leaving out lots of snacks for the day. Bee is good with feeding herself when she needs food.

Have a good day everyone...see you tonight!

Re: 2/9 Bee AMPS~281 +1.5~317

I would start by leaving out the turducken...I think that sometimes the added carbs can make
a big difference. What did you feed her previously?
BTW, when did you start with that anyway? It's not on your SS...do you remember when you
first started feeding her the Merrick?

Re: 2/9 Bee AMPS~281 +1.5~317

Yep, the Turducken is off the menu. I gave her a few cans last week...not sure if it was any earlier. I'll check through the big stack of Petsmart receipts to see where it started.

She was on Wellness chicken & turkey flavors previously, as well as Merrick Cowboy Cookout...all at half the carbs of the turducken.
Could be the culprit.

Thanks for the thoughts, Pat!!

Re: 2/9 Bee AMPS~281 +1.5~317

Same thing with the Wellness Core....might as well save it for when you need something to
bring her up a little faster than the real low carb stuff. See if it makes a difference .....

PMPS~289

Bee is still stuck in the elevated numbers. Of course I have no way of knowing where she went while I was at tbp all day.
She ate very little while I was gone & there is pukus all through her kitty tunnel...her favorite spot to nap. No hairball - just puke for the first time in several weeks. She's not very perky tonight & though I think she'll eat at shot time (in 10 minutes) she's not waiting for fresh food like she usually does

I'm going to open another fresh pen, just in case there's a problem with the one I've been using.

I'm getting a little concerned about Bee.

Just a note to let you know I'm thinking of you and Bee. I hope this concern resolves itself soon and easily. Sending hugs.

Oh boy Nancy! Could Bee be brewing a hairball or something? Or getting ready for another IBD flare??? Just thinking out loud here.

Sending some feel better vines for Bee and a hug for you (((((Nancy))))).

I don't think it's a hairball, Brenda. She usually has tiny little ones & they pass infrequently & without much fuss. Could be a bit of IBD. She eats a lot & passes it quickly when her numbers are higher. Soft, but not liquipoo...I know you're familiar with both!

I'm afraid it might be due to the food change. I hope moving her back to the very lc Wellness and fattening her dose doesn't cause a big drop. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking! :?

Any chance this could be early pancreatitis? The pukus and being lethargic/less perky could be symptoms. Of course, the food change could be the culprit.

Bee was actually dx with pancreatitis and IBD along with the diabetes at the end of October. She had a very twisted, ropey feeling belly & it was very bloated. Those symptoms were resolved after about 3 weeks & have not returned. What else should I be looking for?!

Complete hunch here but I think the ropey feeling you describe is probably more the IBD than pancreatitis. I did some websurfing and found the following symptoms: With IBD, you'd see diarrhea and vomiting and if severe, loss of appetite, fever and weight loss. With pancreatitis, symptoms can include loss of appetite, vomiting, lethargy, weight loss, and diarrhea. So, the symptoms are pretty much the same!

That's sure an accurate description of Bee when she was diagnosed, Sienne! She was a very sick little girl.

She's no where near the way she was, but I think it's a good idea to keep an eye on any changes in her behavior or symptoms. The pukus along with the rotten ss just has me concerned right now. Maybe it's just an "off" day...
