Hello wonderful cat-care-givers!
I have a general question about preventing heart disease, diabetes, and CKD.
I've had two cats (Cotten & Q-Tip) prior to the three (Two-Two my sugarcat, and Rocky & Niko 10 mo. kittens) that I have now. While Cotten & Q lived until 16-19 y/o they both had either heart disease or CKD and now Two has FD.
Do you all think the best prevention is brushing teeth & yearly deep clean at the Vet, feeding low carb (?), and getting exercise? I assume because we are mammals we all need these things to be healthy!
Does anyone have any resources about prevention and what foods to feed? I only buy "grain free" but now that I have a sugarcat I realize that all grain free DOES NOT mean low carb! I only do Wet with one serving of a small amt. of grain free dry b/c I understand it is good for their teeth.
Is taking them to the vet to get their teeth cleaned and under general bad to do every year? Is the stress from this worse then plaque build up? I plan on training my kittens to let me brush their teeth so wish me luck.
Anyway, thanks in advance!!
