Yesterday

A crew of hungry cats woke me up a littler earlier than normal this morning. They must have known it was Fish Friday and were anxious to have their once-a-week fish meal. I tested Mally about 45 minutes earlier than I usually do and fed the starving kitties. She's doing great this morning. She ate a hearty breakfast and is now happily bathing herself on my bed.

Mally ate more than usual at breakfast this morning so I did a +2 on her to see where her numbers are and she is at 79.

Way to go Mally! Keep those Normal Numbers coming, just 12 more days to go.

Chris, I have hear that it isn't good to give the fish meal but once a week, but I am not entirely sure why. My guess is because it is very low in carbs. I think the Fancy Feast Fish Meal that we have actually has ZERO carbs. Is this why you shouldn't give it more than once a week? I have been trying different flavors of Fancy Feast (not me specifically, but I have been giving them to the cats) so I have been giving my 5 cats 3-5 different flavors at each meal. Sometimes I do through in the Fancy Feast Fish meal (can't remember exactly what it is called right now), but I figure since each of them are only getting a little bit of it is still okay to give it as often as I do. Is that true, or should I back off on the Fish Meal.

Re: 2/5 Mally AMBG 61 OTJ Trial Day 2

Tina, I only give the cats fish once a week because I don't want them to get too hooked on it. And, I have always heard that it's best to limit the amount of fish cats get. Dr. Lisa's website advises that health problems can occur in a predominantly fish-based diet. Also, cats will get finicky and only want fishy foods. So I stick to the once-a-week rule when it comes to feeding the cats fish.

Today they had Fancy Feast Flaked Tuna, which is actually a 7% carb food according to Janet & Binkey's list. Normally I feed them the non-fish FF varieties from the gluten-free list and those are 3% - 4% carb foods. Every meal they get a different food from the list.

That is good to know. I really wasn't sure, but I understand now because when I give that food everyone clamors to eat it and then they go after whatever is left in the other dishes or the push someone else out of the way to get at it. The one that I have been feeding is Flaked Fish & Shrimp Feast, which shows Zero carbs on the list, that is why I thought it was the carb content. Thanks for letting me know.

Very good Mally! Keep it up dancing_cat dancing_cat

I am soo happy for you Chris.

BTW - What did Tina mean by "only 12 more days to go"?

Re: 2/5 Mally AMBG 61 OTJ Trial Day 2

Paige, Mally is on a 14 day trial. If her numbers stay good for 14 days in a row then she is officially OTJ. So for now, we take it day by day and see how she does.
