Good Leap Day Morning, Everyone,

Rusty is a bit high this morning. I woke up about an hour early and he was eating the rest of last night's bedtime food, so AMPS could be food-influenced. Or maybe it was a partial fur shot yesterday morning and maybe my first test at PMPS last night (bg 149) was the accurate one. Or maybe it's the cat. Yes, that's it: the cat! Anyway, Rusty had a good shot (it all got in), a good breakfast (Wellness Turkey, 2 sittings) and now is "waiting" for us to leave for our picnic (of course he knows we are not going to be here for lunch, and that knowledge will be confirmed when I put the food in his automat and close the cover (he eats from the automat all the time, since I use it as his table, and the lids are always open except when we go out).

We should be able to get our picnic in before the big winter storm begins later today. We are supposed to get about 10 inches of wet snow + sleet + freezing rain--the worst possible situation. It is a major storm and has already begun in the western part of NY state.

I'll give a report on the picnic later. I've decided to snowshoe instead of ski: with wood to carry for the fire, the extra weight in my pack would throw me off balance if I were to ski. Edward will snowshoe in any event, since he has given up trying to learn to ski!

Everyone have a good day, Thoughts, prayers, and healing vines for all kitties and beans in need,

Ella & Rusty

What a difficult concept for me. Picnics put me in mind of summer breezes. Although your breezes won't be balmy, I hope you enjoy it.

Re: 2/29 Rusty AMPS 147

morning! Rusty - back to the greens! I am with you Ella - it's just the cat!

Enjoy your picnic today - I hope you beat out the storm, and make it home before it gets too nasty. It sounds like a fun excursion! Enjoy.

Re: 2/29 Rusty AMPS 147

Have a great time at the picnic, Ella! It sounds like fun (even to me)! We are getting the leading edge of the storm here now, with an icy mix of precip. Hope Rusty has a nice day of napping while you are out.

Re: 2/29 Rusty AMPS 147

Enjoy your picnic! Sounds like a great time. Hopefully the storm holds off until you are back home with Rusty.

Have a great day!

Hi again,

The picnic was great fun. It was a tough snowshoe getting there, however. The snow was more than a foot deep and we had to break trail because we didn't want to snowshoe in the ski tracks and therefore ruin them for the skiers. I guess I should have skied today!! But it was really good exercise! (about 5 miles in all). We built a fire in the fire pit at the lean-to and roasted our hotdogs and heated a big pot of beans on a camping stove. It wasn't too cold, so we could linger and have fun. Some of us ventured out on the ice of the pond. There were 12 of us today. Linda, you really would have enjoyed it; the woods were beautiful. We got out by 2:30 P.M. and the precipitation hadn't started. It still hasn't begun, but it looks stormy outside.

Rusty was sleeping in his basket next to the radiator when we got home and we woke him up! He was delighted to see us and wanted to have his test (good one at +8.5). He had "saved" some of his lunch and ate it after the test, along with his treat. Then we had a rousing game with the tinsel wand and the shopping bag we carried the wood in for the campfire. He got tangled up in the handles and couldn't get himself out; I had to free him from the bag monster!. Now he has retired to his bed by the radiator for a little more nap time before dinner. (Lined up in front of the radiator, which is about 8 feet long, are his little "day" bed, his cushion, his perch and scratching pole, and his basket; it's neat to watch him move from one to the other, or decide which one he will chillax in at any particular time.)

To check some condos now and then some more later.

How cute that Rusty goes to all his spots to see which he wants to settle in. :-D

I'm glad you had a nice picnic, Ella. How thoughtful of your group to not ruin the ski trails for others.
It snowed hard for about ten minutes here, great big flakes, and now is quite pleasant.......for a while anyway.

Lagoon master can you put some 'walk don't run' signs up on the way to the lagoon please - and makes sure punkin obeys!

Sounds like everyone had a great day at your place, except maybe the plastic bag monster...

Evening!! Such robust beans you & Edward are!! Picnic in the snow, in an approaching storm!!
LOve it :-D :-D :-D
He's just a cat, like Moonie was just a cat the last day or 2! They always WIN!!
Stay warm & cuddly! Moonie was in the green lagoon with Rusty today!

Moonie once got her head stuck in the handles of a brown paper bag from Trader Joe's,
Got terrified & ran all over the house trying to get it off!! Poor baby, we had to
trap her in the bathroom to get it off her head!! ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile
She was fine just spooked
Have a beautiful snowy night--Hugs & Love from us!

Great snow story! Sounds like a wonderful day! And Rusty is looking fab in green!

Heys Rusty buddy, thanks for the tour around the green lagoon. I's just learning my way around and was a little nervous. Thanks for bringing some liquid courage in your little silver flask! Hope we can hang out in the green lagoon more often together! - Zener

Very glad you enjoyed the picnic. What fun to build a fire and have one in the winter! It sounds like Rusty had a good day too by the radiator and some nice numbers to boot. :-D
