Logan's bloodwork does not indicate that there is any underlying infection. His WBC count has improved, as has is ALT. Everything was in the normal range except for his RDW, PLT, CHOL, and AMYL! The RDW indicates that he's anemic - something he's been for a while now. His PLT was just outside the normal range. Normal is 175-600 and his was 663. His Cholesterol was off the charts high at 421 (norm is 65-225) but they said that could've been b/c he'd eaten just a couple hours before the test. I believe it was around 300 the last time we tested him. The AMYL was 432, just below the normal range of 500-1500. So, overall, everything looks good. His ALT was 79 the last time we were in and it's down to 66. His WBC count was at 13K and is now 6.85K.

So, we decided to cut out the amoxicillin. It's treating the secondary bacteria. As long as the primary bacteria is killed off (the e coli) then this bacteria cannot survive. He's been on the amoxicillin for 14 days so they think he'll be ok w/o it. We'll continue the TMP for another two weeks. I'll talk with his internist on Tuesday when she's back in the office.

Logan has had a good day today. He's eaten well and has seem to feel pretty good. He's been a little more active - we've even seen a couple of his Ninja Bear moves that we haven't seen in quite some time. He also snuggled on the couch with me.

His ears look awful for some reason. It looks like we've been doing curves every day or something. So, we gave him a break today and only tested pre-shot. So, we have no idea why he's at 400 - could be the same ol' same ol' or maybe he dropped at some point today.

That's great news re: the bloodwork. Hopefully it'll be the last one Logan will need for a while! And I hope cutting out one AB will help too. Have you been giving Logan any pre or probiotics? Was thinking maybe that would help him after this long round of ABs.

He won't touch the fortiflora anymore. I need to find something else to try, though. I'm really hoping the amoxicillin was partly to blame for his inappetance. But, at least we know there doesn't appear to be anything else going on with him.

That sounds like good report Kelly, especially his eating and playfullness.
Maybe now with one less medication he will feel more like eating.
Sending feel better vines still to Logan.
He is a fighter and he will get thorugh this hurdle!!!

What great news to hear that Logan is improving nicely; I hope he continues on that path and that his appetite picks up.
Since we know that the ps numbers are not as important, we can figure he had some nice numbers along the way!

After all, how can you dispute the possibility of there being some good numbers that went unrecorded when you see those ninja bear moves coming back! :thumbup

I hope Logan has a quiet evening and feels better in the morn.

Good news on the blood work! A probiotic that others have recommended to me (though I have not tried it) is Culturelle. I also wonder if vitamin B12 shots might help a bit with the anemia.

You know what I ended up doing? I bought some probiotic tablets from Trader Joe's, pulverized a tablet and added some of it to Quincy's regular food. I don't think you can OD on probiotics, right? I did it because I didn't want to wait for fortiflora to come in the mail. Maybe someone will have a reason why that's not a good idea, but seemed to do the trick. At least in a small amount, like a 1/4 tsp, it didn't seem to change the taste of Quincy's food for him to notice it and stop eating.

Relieved about the blood work...there are other probiotics I think but don't remember the name....I think Brenda and Morris used something else....
Raja got a king's chair for Logan tonight...he is sitting there watching all the activities. We will make sure he takes an early moonbeam home and that he takes it slow at the party. So happy that he is here!!
Raja is happy too!!! Max is also keeping an eye on him....two bodyguards! :-D

I kept looking for Logan's condo to hear about his bloodwork. This is all very good news!

This is the probiotic that Cassandra recommended when Gabby was having a bout of liquipoo. I found it in the refrigerated supplement section at Whole foods. You use about 1/3 of a capsule BID mixed in food.

very encouraging bloodwork! The WCR sounds much improved too. I hope Logan has turned another corner and will be back to 100% soon.

I'll try to find the probiotics this week. He had a good bedtime snack - 3/4 can of FF. The appy stimulant is good for another day, but it usually starts to wear off by now so keeping our paws crossed that he'll continue to eat well tomorrow!!!

We just saw something we haven't seen since Logan came out of remission back in September...he just played with Morgan!!! He chased him out of the bedroom. It didn't last long, but it was awesome to see. He also snuggled on the couch with me for over an hour tonight.

Hope everyone has a great time at the party. Logan was very excited to see his pals tonight. I know Raja and Max will take good care of him.

YES! Incredible progress!

Day by day is the way. Today he ate well; good enough for today.
And interaction with Morgan had to have been such a thrilling sight!

It's those little baby steps of improvement that give you the good glimmers of hope for tomorrow.
