Holy crap! I was *going to* leave to go to DBF's for the day and then THIS! I wasn't expecting it. His drooler is very sick (but seems fine) so I've been going to his house. I'm feeding and giving him treats to get the BG up.

He's eating and loving it.

Two questons: is this a dose decrease to a fat zero?
Can I leave once he's back up if I leave pleanty of food out?

I would try a few bites of LC food to see if that brings the number up (often it will on such a small dose). Test again in 30 minutes and we'll see where Boomer is going with this.

I would not just walk out the door. Re-test in 30 min. and you will probably want to have at least one more test to make sure things are leveling out before you leave. I'd like to see what others think about a decrease. I'm chewing over whether it might not be a bad idea for Boomer to try the 3 times less than 50 approach to maximize his holding on to a dose since this 48 is right on the edge and you still have some fairly high blues at PS time. Let's see what others have to say.

+4.5, 58

Is it safe for me to leave?

Edit: I'll wait until +5 and see where he is. He's had plenty of LCW and some HC treats.

Hi Sienne-

Maybe you're right about not giving a dose decrease yet because his numers are a little high sometimes. I'm a little bummed, but he's getting there and I'd rather do it right, ya know?

good bump. I agree with staying around for one more test, I always like to see at least two rising numbers before getting too comfy. On this small dose he should be fine but if you're there, you might as well check.

I'm thinking Boomer probably *is* ready for a reduction to 0.1, but I'll send Jill a note to see if she can pop in. He has had plenty of 50's that we've caught on this dose, and with the lack of daytime spot checks there could be more. Sometimes the higher blues are actually bounces off of numbers we don't see (and for the last 5 days, even the higher numbers have been under 120).

Follow whatever Libby and Jill suggest. I was just putting it out there for your consideration. Sometimes 'cause you're the one at home with Boomer, you're seeing things that the SS doesn't reflect. You're doing such a great job!!!

Hi from Dave's house,

Any thought on what dose Boomer should get tonight? Should it be the fat zero? If so, how do I draw up a fat zero?
I ended up leaving the house after the +5 test.
I felt a little guilty, but my entire life is wrapped around my cat and I need to go out too. Same with my BF; his dog is sick and it limits what he can do. It's a little tough simetimes.

what do YOU want to do? Either option is viable, if a reduction doesn't stick we can go back up, or if you keep this dose and he drops again then we'll know it's time to reduce. Which one are you more comfortable with?

I think I'd like to try the fat zero. I'll go back up to .25 if I have to; I've done it once before when he didn't hold a reduction. Is there a photo of a fat zero anywhere? It's one drop, right?

Hi Libby-

Thank you for all your help. Sorry to beat it to death, but - I just want to make sure - when I shoot the insulin, only one drop should come out, right? I practiced a couple times before I gave it to Boomer.

Oh, and PM was 86. Not bad after all the HC treats I gave him earlier.
