Marci and Buddy

my Buddy was diagnosed. How could this be?i thought he was just thirsty alot because of the heat in my apt(guess it's true denial is not just a river in Egypt).I hadn't known anyone with diabetes before , except when i was young I knew my grandmother had it - but Buddy was adopted (don't tell him ).
so it's been a year of gradually accepting and learning all about this disease and changing my life to accommodate it. Read food lables, cut back on entertaining to afford supplies and vet, be home by amps+12, learn a new language-speaking in abbreviations...( in LL most peeps know that ECID,at times we need BOS, other timesTOR,yet others we have to be the tank to help the BG's, depends on the WCR.) You all know the deal.
But really what I want to say is a great big THANK YOU to everyone. If i had followed my vet 's advice i would have one very sick cat on my hands..."dont do blood tests at home just bring him in, 2u vetsulin, dry food ok" and no mention of hypo signs. Buddy is rarely sick these days-in fact he gets better all the time-i say hes 14 going on 4 ;-)
This morning after breakfast,I mean brefus , he was playing the piano upside down(on his back kneading) looking so happy, and I only have all of you to thank-all of you so genourous with your time and knowledge and care..I am very moved and ET(eternally grateful) :-D

Happy annifursary! This is a day for a big celebration. If you're like most of us, the day you got that diagnosis you thought that meant your time with Buddy would be very limited. Instead, he's healthier than he has been in a long time! You have worked hard and Buddy's spreadsheet shows it, and his WCR shows it even more.

Congratulations!

Happy Annifursary Marci and Buddy! I love your post!

I'm so glad we've gotten to know you along the way, you're a wonderful caregiver to Buddy, and you've really proven that over the last year. I am sure he's a very grateful young man! Scritches to your boy!

Happy Annifursary to you and Buddy.

It's wonderful to hear how well Buddy is doing and how much you enjoy your time together. And thank you for being a part of this community.

I second that! -- especially the acknowledgment of all that we receive from this board. I love your post!

It will be two years in May for my Mannie. Seems just like yesterday when that word - diabetes - come out of my vet's mouth. It started a journey for Mannie and me, a remarkable journey. I owe so much to those that take the time to write on, and read, my posts.

HAPPY ANNIFURSARY! party_cat party_cat party_cat party_cat
