Good morning everyone!

This morning peter found some throw up (white liquid) along with a hairball .. We aren't sure if it came from mocha or twix, but we are thinking mocha .. the other day we saw her gag but nothing came up .. Anyways, she soon after had diarrhea .. About two hours later at breakfast time, she wasn't interested. I of course panicked and had to take her BG right away .. 92 .. still low, but on the high end for her .. I locked her up in the bathroom with me while I showered and she still wouldn't eat. Its now an hour and a half past breakfast time and she is just beginning to show interest in her food, but not with much enthusiasm .. keeps coming and going from it ..

She purrs with us petting her or picking her up. She isn't lethargic in any way .. She just kinda seems restless and uninterested with her food, which is VERY unusual for mocha .. she normally runs and does laps in the kitchen and yells at us till it's in front of her face .. None of that today ..

I am trying not to immediately panic and just keep telling myself it's probably the hairball, she probably doesn't feel real good .. but I'm not sure what I should do? Keep checking her BG's? If she doesn't get her appy back, make a vet appt?

Thanks guys!

Re: 2/27 Unusual behavior for mocha

Poor Mocha! Could just be a little tummy upset from the hairball maybe? I would call the vet if she throws up anymore or won't eat all day. Hugs to you and scritches to Mocha. Healing feel better tummy vines!!

Re: 2/27 Unusual behavior for mocha

Hi Devon,
I'm sorry to hear that Mocha is not herself this morning. It probably is a hairball or maybe some other kind of stomach upset, but I think that you are right to watch her carefully and perhaps make an appointment to see the vet if she vomits again and shows no real interest in her food. Has she vomited food, or was it all white liquid?

Mocha, Rusty is sending you a beautiful bouquet of feel-better vines. We all want you to feel better!

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 2/27 Unusual behavior for mocha

I hope it's just a hairball, sometimes they come in multiples. Tess doesn't get many, but when she does it takes her a while to get them out.

Re: 2/27 Unusual behavior for mocha

Devon, sorry to hear Mocha is not feeling up to par. I agree, watch her and if she vomits again, make appt, for Vetty. I hope it is just a hairball upset tummy. Sending some special healing vines for Mocha. Feel better pretty Mocha. Hugs to you Devon. I know what a worry it is when our babies don't eat. Keep us updated.

Re: 2/27 Unusual behavior for mocha

Awww, poor Mocha, gots an upset tummy.
Devon, if it's before breakfast, she probably just doesn't have anything in her tummy to throw up.

Do you have hairball med to give her? A blob of Vaseline works just as well, if she doesn't accept hairball stuff, like Checks won't.

Having said that, you know that I have no medical training, it's JMHO.
Hugs to you, Devon, 'cause I know how upsetting it is, when kitty has an 'off' day, and you don't know why.

Re: 2/27 Unusual behavior for mocha

Oh come on now Mocha, don't go getting sick on us now. Sammy is looking forward to the first dance when he finally gets to plan his otj party! (He secretly has eyes for you!). Lots of hugs and cuddles from both of us. Hopefully it will pass soon and you will be back to your crazy and entertaining self! Hugs to you too Devon. You have always been so encouraging to us...so back atcha! :YMHUG:

Re: 2/27 Unusual behavior for mocha

Thanks you guys .. She ended up eating about a 1/4 of her breakfast fuddies .. still not much for my little piggy .. She's laying by her boyfriend hoomy .. Poor little girl .. If it was mocha who threw up, it was clear liquid and the hairball .. I found some clear liquid the other morning (you know, my toes found it first!) and it was just a small pile, about the size of a quarter .. no food or hairball in that either .. Twix is acting 100% fine, other then the fact I'm babying mocha and not her!

How long should I wait before making an appt? If she doesn't eat at lunchtime? Dinnertime? I'm nailbite_smile

Re: 2/27 Unusual behavior for mocha

A bit of pepcid may help with liquid pukus. It seems to be that time of year when kitters are starting to lose their winter coats, so paws crossed it is a hairball. Hope Mocha is feeling better very soon.

At lunchtime I opened up a new can of fuds .. even though the breakfast was from the same can of fuds as dinner last night! But she gave me a small "chirp" and then gobbled up lunch!

I really hope whatever was bugging her earlier is long gone!

I'm sorry that Mocha was under the weather this morning, Devon. It always makes me worry when kitties don't eat, too. I hope it was just a blip and she's back to normal now.

That's good to hear, just a little tummy upset and perhaps just a touch of fineckyness to keep the bean in attendance!

I'm glad to hear that Mocha's back to eating well again. I'm guessing that the hairball made her little tummy upset. This happens with Aurora, one of my civvies, too, and with Scooter, our oldest male, also another civvie. I give them both time to adjust, and when they're hungry, they'll tell me.

I am sooooo glad that Mocha is eating again--I know how upsetting it is when they are sick & wont eat!
Just went through it and now have pepcid here at all times--Hope she continues to improve--
Hugs & Love from us!--Mocha take it easy girl, we lubs ya!

Thanks everyone! Well my little sugarbear has been sleeping all day in her basket right next to momma :-D Some might say she's really milking it, but I won't complain! She ate lunch and her snackus just fine (in bed of course!) So we are keeping fingers crossed this morning was a fluke from the upset tummy/hairball situation and that our girl is back on the road to recovery .. Thanks for all the well wishes!

Yes...paws crossed. That kind of liquid and sniffing food earlier but not eating indicates acid tummy and nausea. I'm so glad she ate. Please keep us posted Devon. Hugs to you all.

I would still give some treatment for furballs to make sure everything has cleared out. I'm glad by the time I got here Mocha was already feeling better and eating

I saw this post earlier in the day while I was in a class ans unable to read the whole thing. Whew, thank goodness all is well with Miss Mocha! I'm glad her BF Hoomy is a comfort to her!

I'm so glad Mocha is feeling better!!! I can only imagine how icky those hairballs feel...poor kitties!!

Have a great evening!

So glad Mocha is feeling better. Always a great sign when they decide to eat like they normally do.

Have you given Mocha pepcid before? Are you able to pill her easily? Maverick needed pepcid for a few days a month - we gave as needed once he had a clear or tiny frothy vomit. We bought empty gel caps in size #4 at the pharmacy and this helps a lot.

Sorry I'm late on Mocha's condo. Just want to say hearing she chirped and gobbled made my morning  Give her a big hug from me.

Oh wow Devon, i'm sure glad to read that Mocha is feeling better after her upset tummy. I hope you have a better day today Mocha!

I'm glad she's eating. I guess none of us can relate to how icky a tummy can feel from hacking up a hairball.

I guess not!!

Devon, so glad to see that Miss Mocha Jo got back to feeling like herself yesterday... so glad she had her boy Hoomie to comfort her!!! :-D :-D :-D Keep us posted on how she's doing!!

Thanks everyone! Last night around 10 p.m. mocha again decided she wasn't interested in food  So we didn't force it, since she did have some fuds in her tummy .. then around 3 a.m. she woke us up with a rather smelly BM .. it was one long solid stool with a bunch of liquid around it ..

This morning however, she is acting 100% better! She talked to us all morning about breakfast, ate it eagerly, played catch with a few toys, brought back toys while I was in the shower, is yelling at me now, already took a quick bath :-D

I haven't checked her BG's today, but I will ..

I told peter maybe she had a hairball, and only got half of it up yesterday, and the other half came out the other way

Thanks again everyone, I'll keep you updated if things change!

is it terrible that i laughed at the description of the excess hair partly coming out one end and party coming out the other? not laughing at her feeling yucky of course, just the description. only here can people get so enthused about body things.

hope that solves the problem and she's back to feeling good again. sorry i missed this yesterday too, but glad it *might* be over. let us know. mocha's pretty special, you know! you too!

Thanks Julie! I have to agree, only this site can we laugh about such icky things!

I tested mocha at +4 today, right before lunch .. got a solid 48 on the meter .. she's been laying in the sun soaking up solar energy for what I am sure will be a long night with the meezer :-D

it's not exactly material for a facebook status update "Mocha woke us up at 3am with a large stinky poo . . . "

good thing we have LL! ;-)
