Well made it through another night of work and I am exhausted, as soon as I shoot I am gonna sleep til +6 because I need the sleep desperately, this past two weeks have killed me for sleep!!! Glad Scrabble's amps wasn't too high. Wondering when we will get on track here and see what the day will bring. Not gonna be able to test anytime in the night because I am going to the Bon Jovi concert (can't wait!), hope Scrabble doesn't have another crazy day!!! amps 343

Re: 2/26/10 SCRABBLE AMPS 343

looks like he's still reacting to that green. takes a few cycles to turn that around. he's doing just fine, michelle. they don't graduate from liver training school right away. :)

Re: 2/26/10 SCRABBLE AMPS 343

Hahaha yes I am realizing this! Want him to graduate soon, he is causing me all kinds of worry!!! I just feel he has been all over the map!!! How long should I keep this current dose do you think?

Re: 2/26/10 SCRABBLE AMPS 343

Let's see what happens today!! You could see better numbers!! Takes some time to clear rebound..
Test before you leave for concert(even if it's +1.5) and when you come home from the concert--As you need to have some handle on what's happening--And collecting data is always good.
How long will this dose be good, there's no telling, but we do have the control with food, & dosing consultants can help you with dosing advice-
Patience & consistancy is what counts the most here and it's what makes your cat get well...
There is no race to get to OTJ, just be slow & steady & you'll win the race..having a healthy cat is what's important..
Have a great time tonite--Love Bon Jovi!!!!!

Re: 2/26/10 SCRABBLE AMPS 343

+6 195 wish I could test before I leave for concert but have to leave right after I give the shot, I should be home for a +9 or +10ish so I will grab one then. Glad to see he went down a bit! So excited for concert tonight, I NEED a night out!!!!

Re: 2/26/10 SCRABBLE AMPS 343 +6 195

Yea, you got some blue! This is good. Hopefully he won't rebound as hard from here. Encouraging that he got down here so quickly, maybe the trips to RBC (rebound city) will be shorter and the swings not as drastic.

Re: 2/26/10 SCRABBLE AMPS 343 +6 195

Michelle - our fingers/toes and paws are crossed over here for you and Scrabble. BUT don't give up, you both are doing so well in such a short time....really! :thumbup

Re: 2/26/10 SCRABBLE AMPS 343 +6 195

Thanks Paige, pmps # 298, whew, glad he didn't spike up like yesterday!!! Talked to vet today to give her results, she is kind of baffled by his results. She has never had a patient that does home testing so she can't believe how much his numbers have gone up and down (she is used to patients coming in once a week to test) She is learning from all this too. I had her write a perscription for the cartridges for me. Any feedback on where to get them? Chriscleo told me from canadadrugsonline, anyone else use them? Vet wants to do a fructosamine test after next Friday since that will be 3 weeks on insulin. I am leaving right after his shot to go to a concert so will not be able to check numbers tonight, I am leaving out extra food tonight in case. I should be home around 1amish so I can do a +9 or +10. Gonna be rocking out to Bon Jovi tonight, yay!!!

Re: 2/26/10 SCRABBLE AMPS 343 +6 195

It's unfortunate we hear this a lot...a lot of our vets are surprised by how much testing we do, but in the end, look at the results, good information so we can better treat with insulin, never let a vet make you feel like you are doing wrong things by home testing.

you might want to cross post in health and or the supply closet forums on where to order.

not sure about fructo test, others will weigh in that.

and yes, I was gonna suggest leave plenty of fuds out for little Scrabble,,,,enjoy yourself Michelle! Have loads of fun!

I ordered from canadadrugsonline.com and had a very smooth transaction. However, I am in Florida and the package came with the ice packet completely melted. I called them and a pharmacist spoke to me and said that the unopened package could be unrefrigerated for 28 days...I was still worried. That said, I am on my next to last cartridge and they performed just fine. Since you are in Southern Cal you may have the same thing with ice melting...just wanted to let you know.

I placed an order with the canadadrugsonline last week and they said that it would be coming from Turkey...I decided to get it locally. The larger vials are from Canada but the cartridges are from Turkey. I thought that the transit time combined with the hotter weather (although it is darned cold here right now!) would make it too iffy. YMMV.

Michelle....it is up to you whether or not you want to do a fructosomine test but my vet always tells me Putty does not need to have one because I test so much. I would have told her that anyway if she had suggested he have one but I let her think that she knows better than me. :-D
My ss tells me what has been going on the last 3 weeks so why pay for something I already know.

Maybe there is more information that the test gives than I am not aware of so if I am wrong here please feel free to correct me people.

Talked to vet today to give her results, she is kind of baffled by his results. She has never had a patient that does home testing so she can't believe how much his numbers have gone up and down (she is used to patients coming in once a week to test) She is learning from all this too.
I've also been E-mailing my Vet with Maggie's results, and I get the same feeling as Michelle & Scrabble. He is not used to someone home testing, and I get the feeling he is learning, too. I showed him the spreadsheet. It was never mentioned by him for me to home test. He was going to do the same thing - have me come in once a week. It was another Vet in the same clinic that got me started on home testing.

I bought mine at Costco, it was about $180 w/ member's discount, but you don't have to be a member. People warned me against ordering by mail this time of year as Lantus cannot be frozen and it's cold up Canada way.

HI! Lookin' good out there! :RAHCAT

I to have a vet that is big on the fructosamine test - says it is a more definitive test, overall, on how well the insulin is working, and their overall health status. True? I dunno - but she sure loves doing them. So I oblige and haul him up there, much to his dismay, every 4 months or so.... oh what fun! At least she is supportive of home testing - so I bring her his chart once a month so she can see how he is doing. Long story here....

anyways - Scrabble is doing well, don't fret the bounces, part of the game. It's nice when they clear quickly - hope it is this way tonight for Scrabble.

Hope Bon Jovi was great - they were just here last weekend. HAVE FUN!

to me there's no question that your cat's diabetic and you will be getting 2 weeks worth of home tests so at this point there's no reason for a fructosamine. your vet may want to check urine to see how much glucose is spilling there. that seems to reassure vets too. i didn't get repeat blood and urine tests til cleo had been on insulin 6 months tho.

i'd call canadadrugsonline and ask them what the weather is like around there. it's getting close to spring so if you can wait a few more weeks that's what i'd recommend. the icepack in the box they sent me was melted too (took about a week to get here) but the insulin lasted longer and was more effective than what i bought locally so i recommend them highly. same with globaldrugsdirect (also from canada), but canadadrugsonline is much cheaper now. at one point their price was the same. i paid $173 and $200 for insulin locally so i was much happier paying $120 from canada.

HI everyone, back from concert, it was awesome, sat in the 4th row, wow was it amazing. Just took a +9 and he is 351, gonna take a snooze and then do an amps. I will call canadadrugs and see what they say. Not sure about the fructosamine test either, hate to haul him to the vet if it is something that is not needed. Nice to be out tonight!

If you have a Costco in your area they have good prices, and you don't have to be a member to use the pharmacy.
