My unemployment appeals hearing is over and the spreadsheet has been updated.

WCR: Loving his catnip and toys, still hating clumsy puppy.

WBR: Less stressed than before, now that they unemployment hearing is over, but nervous for the outcome. The employer didn't give contact info, so she was excluded from the hearing. But I was super stressed and sort of froze in the hearing, leaving me only able to answer questions and not really give the detailed information I had prepared. Basically, when I had the chance to speak, I went blank, even though I had page after page of notes on the paper in front of me. We'll see how it goes.

Re: 2/24 Willow PMPS~470, +3~462

WCR: His purr is whistley.

A question: Approximately how many more cycles before the shed is depleted enough to start making dose changes as needed? He's on cycle 3 of the new dose of .25 units. I'm trying to get a +4 on each cycle if life permits (since he's usually early nadir, plus this is a spot check that I am generally home for AM and PM), so that I'll be ready to increase or decrease as needed.

is there any chance you'll be able to test more now that your hearing is over?
we've seen how willows numbers can rise or fall in a matter of an hour. am afraid we'll miss drops if only amps, pmps, and +4s are done.
also, are you testing for ketones?

I'd love to be able to test his BG more and will definitely get more tests as I can. I was thinking +2 is another place he drops, so that may be another good time to test. I think I have about 40 strips left. Lack of income is really making it hard to afford Willow's supplies, in addition to my regular bills/rent/food, credit cards, medical costs from my 2008 diagnosis with the autoimmune disorder, etc., etc... you get the idea. I'm low on strips and syringes and completely out of ketodiastix. Syringes and strips come first, so after that, I'll be able to get Ketodiastix. I can't spend anything extra though until I'm sure my main bills get paid. I'm trying... I really am. But I can only work with what I have available right now.

just do the best you can, jordan. i know things have been tight. what kind of strips do you need? maybe we can find someone who has extra and would be willing to send some...

I have 2 meters, a TrueTrack and OneTouch UltraMini. TrueTrack is the main meter (was going to switch to the Mini, but the strip cost has kept me tied to the TrueTrack for now). I know the Relion is inexpensive and strips seem comparable, if not less expensive than TrueTrack, but the meter and strips weren't as readily available at the Walmart's nearby when I went searching in November and December, and I worry about running out of strips and not being able to just run up to the store and replace them right away.

i can ask on the backup board if anyone has any extra. i haven't been to the supply closet in a long time. maybe check there? if no one has any post a request? maybe peeps who may read this will have some other ideas...

I have a bunch of Freestyle Freedom strips, but I don't have an extra meter that I could send with them. Not sure how much the meter would cost by itself but there might be a rebate. The strips are expired or about to expire, but you can use Freestyle strips long past the expiration date. I still haven't shipped your other package so I can throw in a couple vials of strips if you want them. I promise I'll do my best to get to the post office on Saturday!

I check the supply closet, whenever I remember. Really don't want to post a request because I know there are many more people out there less fortunate than myself, or new to feline diabetes and overwhelmed, who could use some help. Just keep reminding myself that we'll be okay and this will get better.

hey there :)

Libby, that's the freedom lite system right? if so, i've got spare of those meters and can get one out in the mail right away?? if so then between your strips and my meters that should work out for a bit. and yes, i'll vouch for using freestyle strips after the expiration dates. been doing that for a while now and i notice no difference in the readings.

and i've got ketostix i can send too ???

let me know and in case i lose this thread could someone pm me?? :)

cindy, that's so nice of you!
i emailed libby with the link to this thread. i'm sure she'll see it first thing in the morning.
thank you...

Thank you so much Jill, Libby, Cindy, Ronnie, and FDMB!!! Knowing that I don't have to compromise Willow's care due to my financial issues, really helps take some of the stress off of me during this time. As soon as I'm back on my feet, I will definitely repay the kindness passed on to me. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!! Hopefully Willow will thank everyone with some greens when we find a happy dose for him.
