Hello everybody! It was a busy Sunday b/c I had to work, so here's our first post. I was bummed to see Moses' food only half eaten. I think he was extremely lonely today, b/c he's an emotional eater and doesn't eat if he's lonely and sad. At least that's what I think.

As soon as I came home and gave him a rubdown he was at the bowl, scarfing. But, Moses, what gives with the yellow PMPS tonight? It's been blue the past 3 nights, c'mon buddy?

I guess no Erica on a Sunday makes Moses extra blue, bumping him to yellow. That's my only logic.

not much bounce from yesterday's green, that's good!

Libby & Lucy, when you're describing this bounce, do you mean that when Moses is doing well (like the greens) out of nowhere, it's calculated that he'll randomly jump up b/c of this improvement? If so, do you know a link where I can read more about this concept b/c it's something I have a hard time grasping @-)

Hope ya'll have been having a great weekend cat_pet_icon

Re: 2/21 Moses AMPS 257 PMPS 263

(((Erica & Moses))) I have often wondered about the two of you today & where your post was!! Thankful to see it!!
Baby & Sadi do not really eat if I am not here either (it is strange to me - but helps to know Moses does the same) I leave out food & it is practically untouched when I come home from work ... but yet they eat all night when I am here!

Cheering you & Moses on for beautiful bg #s!!

Re: 2/21 Moses PMPS 263 +3~215 Question

Thanks, Nicole & Baby

*Question - Does anybody else happen to have any info about his whole "bounce" concept? Or know where I can read about it?

Re: 2/21 Moses PMPS 263 +3~215 Question

Here's a link about rebound. Just be aware that the full out Somogyi effect has not been proven in cats. Issues about insulin resistance in this context do not apply. However, this article does describe the mechanism behind the bouncing.

The non-technical explanation is that in the process of getting our cats regulated, their numbers will drop into what is a normal BG level. However, because they have been diabetic for a while, their bodies have adjusted to higher BG levels. When they are in normal ranges, their liver then panics and dumps glucose and counterregulatory hormones into their system to "protect" them from the danger of hypoglycemia. This is a protective measure and it raises BG levels. If you look at Gabby's SS from last night and this morning, you'll see an example of rebound -- lots of green last night and a red AMPS.

Re: 2/21 Moses PMPS 263 +3~215 Question

Hi Erica. My babies sleep all day when we are not here so don't touch the food that much either. I have one civie that always goes straight to the LB when I get home; like it's his first time to go all day. lol
