Back from vet. Before I update any further, I wanted to let you all know that I believe Flame is telling me he has had enough. I can see it in his eyes. He is having more bad days than good ones now. He seems to have lost his fight and his QOL is not good. So, I have asked my vet to come to the house on friday to help him on his way.
I know some of you don't believe in AC's or Reiki or any of that, but I do. I had a session this morning before I took him to the vet and while he wasn't ready to go today, he told me in no uncertain terms that he is done, he doesn't feel like he can keep doing this, he's tired and he knows he can feel better for a day or two, but he also knows it won't last and he'll feel sick again. He doesnt' want any more tests, he doesn't want to go to the vet any more, he just wants to stay home and be with us for a few more days. He told her that he needs for me to be at peace with allowing him to go and he doesn't feel that I am ready yet. When I asked about having Dr. Losso come here on Friday and allowing him to make his transition at home, he said yes.
My heart is broken in a million pieces. I don't know how I will get thru this, how I will live without him.... but I have to respect the fact that he is telling me that he can't do this any more.
Today, he was severely dehydrated. They gave him 100 ml fluids. His WBC was very high and so were his neutrophils - looks like some sort of infection and his temp was slightly elevated. They gave him a shot of Baytril and gave me some to bring home for the next few days. They nebulized him and put him in O2 for a while. They gave him another small dose of Dexamethazone, and also Cerenia and B-12. Orally, they gave his heart meds and cyproheptadine.
Blood work showed WBC = 40.33, Neutrophils = 34.19 (both very high)
ALT has gone from 137 to 244 (she said the last test was 288, but that was the previous BW)
BUN went up from 56 to 61
Creat went from 2.7 to 2.8
Phos went down from 7.0 to 4.2 (this is the one piece of good news - binders worked)
I'll put the labs in the SS later.
He is eating now. No regular food yet, but he seems to like the ham baby food. Also, she felt a lot of feces in his bowel, so I got some baby food pumpkin and mixed about 1 tsp with the ham baby food and he ate that. I'm going to try to introduce regular food a bit later.
The goal now is to keep him as comfortable as possible till Friday. I've asked my boss if I can work from home as much as possible this week. I took a sick day today, but haven't gotten to rest yet. It's 2 pm and I haven't eaten. Going to try to get a test in on him soon too and then try to lay down for a bit. My head hurts almost as bad as my heart.
Thank you all for EVERYTHING!! This is truly an amazing group of people who care deeply not only about their own furry loves, but everyone elses as well. I am honored to be a part of this FDMB family. I will be posting over the next few days and may still need some advice.
I honestly don't know what else to say right now. I'm pretty emotionally and physically drained. Flame is resting comfortably now.
Love you ALL!!
