2/11 Pearl AMPS 121..... PMPS 68, +1.75 72, +3 67, +4 87

She's on a great run!
I would likely check hourly at this point, especially since she is easy to test, hanging lower, and she is getting little snacks - good job!

Let's see what others might think!
Maybe she'll make a break for the 50s! Fingers crossed! Thanks for your input, Jan. I was really on the fence about how often to be testing - but she is such a gem really. It takes me all of 10 seconds to test her the great majority of the time without any complaint or flinch at all. She is so trusting like that. And she knows she gets her lambie treat afterwards...lol.

I love hearing about Pearl, and how sweet and cooperative she is. Tina was and is that way too; any time she goes to the vet, they remark on how sweet she is. She's half Siamese (Snowshoe) and just so easygoing. Pearl is so lovely.

i agree that Pearl may be dipping under 50 soon (only she knows) - fingers and paws crossed:cat::D

Hi Jan! The Siamese mixes are fantastic, aren't they?! Pearl's mom was a stray cat that showed up one day at my friend's farm. She was a long lanky triangular black Siamese - and so chatty to boot! She had a white diamond on her chest, and looked at lot like my cat Whisper (Pearl's friend in my profile pic). My friend's hubby said he hated cats, but I coaxed them into keeping her (outside only though). She was a wonderful little black cat and she was pregnant (It was really my friend's hubby who got the cat to stay though...he secretly fed her a cheeseburger once I left!). Pearl was the 3rd of 5 (she is definitely a middle child) and was born on Labor Day. We were having a bonfire and the little diamond came to tell my friend and me of her distress. She was really a very friendly and wonderful cat. We got so worried because after that she disappeared - we thought she perhaps got lost in the cornfields or was hit on the highway. My friend's hubby found her about midnight in the garage, giving birth! The first two kittens were already born, and Pearl was on the way. So he helped the little diamond deliver the rest of her babies, then set them up in the garage to keep them warm. My friend and I found homes for everyone - even the little mama. Most people wanted to take Pearl but she was already mine (she was the only one born in the Siamese spirit of her mama, the others were 2 black, 1 tuxedo, and 1 white with gray dots). I met her when she was just 3 days old. The others kittens were also so well-behaved...Pearl was always getting into trouble and exploring beyond her boundaries, lol.

When Pearl was young she and I had a battle of the wills. I didn't know anything about Pica and Pearl would chew on anything including metal blinds. And she did not CARE how much I squirted her with the water bottle. She mellowed out as she got older, but has always been prone to the Siamese obsessiveness/anxiety in her behaviors.

I don't know why I went into all that, lol! Pearl is also part Ragdoll which I assume is the calm patient part of her ;)

Aww what a wonderful story about how you and pearl came into each other's lives :bighug:

She Sur had a beautiful cycle today and you did wonderful Margaret! Looks like you got the hang of this sugar dance :cat:

THanks Susanne! I do feel like we got some more on-the-job training today, makes more sense with the mini feeding now! The only part I worry about most now is how to feed the curve when I am supposed to be sleeping at night. Maybe I'll start to understand her patterns more and it won't be so hard to determine what to do.

Such lovely numbers!! And a beautiful story.

Saw you note about the chewing... One of my civvies, Luna, chews on EVERYTHING! Fingers, sticks, toys, straws, the edge of the cat tree, the metal clothes hanger, tags, shoelaces, the list goes on. She is 9 years old and half Maine Coon, half Ragdoll. Apparently there's a name for cats that chew a lot but I can never remember it.

THanks, Laura! Pearl used to chew on shoelaces, cords for blinds...I can't tell you how many times she's been electrocuted by the Christmas tree. I've had to learn to wrap any thin-ish wires with thick electrical tape so she won't want to chew on them. Cats that have chewing problems are said to deal with "pica".

What a sweet story. And Pearl’s SS...wow! She is settling into this dose quite nicely! Great job, Margaret.

Oh I love Pearl's backstory of coming into your life! She was the chosen one, and also had you take care of her siblings and mama too. Smart kitty to choose you!

Like Marje said, Ms. Pearl's little body is very happy with this dose right now!

I hope she stays happy or wants to go lower! Just not in the middle of the night please!

Thank you for that! Pica...
Luna likes cords too but just the ends so she has never been electrocuted. Your poor, silly fur baby!!
