Hi Jan! The Siamese mixes are fantastic, aren't they?! Pearl's mom was a stray cat that showed up one day at my friend's farm. She was a long lanky triangular black Siamese - and so chatty to boot! She had a white diamond on her chest, and looked at lot like my cat Whisper (Pearl's friend in my profile pic). My friend's hubby said he hated cats, but I coaxed them into keeping her (outside only though). She was a wonderful little black cat and she was pregnant (It was really my friend's hubby who got the cat to stay though...he secretly fed her a cheeseburger once I left!). Pearl was the 3rd of 5 (she is definitely a middle child) and was born on Labor Day. We were having a bonfire and the little diamond came to tell my friend and me of her distress. She was really a very friendly and wonderful cat. We got so worried because after that she disappeared - we thought she perhaps got lost in the cornfields or was hit on the highway. My friend's hubby found her about midnight in the garage, giving birth! The first two kittens were already born, and Pearl was on the way. So he helped the little diamond deliver the rest of her babies, then set them up in the garage to keep them warm. My friend and I found homes for everyone - even the little mama. Most people wanted to take Pearl but she was already mine (she was the only one born in the Siamese spirit of her mama, the others were 2 black, 1 tuxedo, and 1 white with gray dots). I met her when she was just 3 days old. The others kittens were also so well-behaved...Pearl was always getting into trouble and exploring beyond her boundaries, lol.
When Pearl was young she and I had a battle of the wills. I didn't know anything about Pica and Pearl would chew on anything including metal blinds. And she did not CARE how much I squirted her with the water bottle. She mellowed out as she got older, but has always been prone to the Siamese obsessiveness/anxiety in her behaviors.
I don't know why I went into all that, lol! Pearl is also part Ragdoll which I assume is the calm patient part of her
