2/11 MAKI, AMPS 212, PMPS 273, +1 304, +2 201, +3 182, +4 171

yup, that's the Sheba we have.
So I should have a selection once I go buy the FF

FF pate
FF Gravy
Sheba pate
RC glyco wet
Science Diet Urinary,

Then dry foods that I assume I cannot donate to another kitty - Science Diet Urinary and RC glycobalance.

Treats:
Temptations - creepy catnip
Greenies
Kaboodles
Blue Wilderness chick & turkey

If you would note next to each what I keep (for our hypo kit and regular feeding), donate, throw out that would be so helpful. TIA

I am jumping ahead, but want to plan the evening and tomorrow morning as we are having snow so working around that also.

I am thinking you will say no insulin PMPS tonight? Test, test, test, and feed FF? Is that kinda the plan? Anything else I need on hand just in case (given rural and snow)?

Science Diet Urinary,

Of these you don't have the FF pate and FF gravy, right?

Sheba Pate is LC
RC Glycobalance is MC
Science Diet Urinary is HC

Let us see how she fares this cycle. She hasn't dropped too low yet without the dry, so we may just keep her on a low dose of insulin for the next few days while you feed FF / Sheba pate. In any case, do not give insulin tonight without posting here and checking with @tiffmaxee.

You do need to keep her hungry. They are creatures of habit.

Have you ever ordered from chewy.com? The first time you do they give a good discount. Tgey have most foods and lots of freeze dried treat choices.

As for the Prozinc data entry.
1/4/2021 Prozinc 2U and changed to glycobalance wet and dry per vet.
1/4-1/21 gave 2U prozinc each day morning and night after food. Missed a couple doses during those days...one dose went in me, others on her skin/fur. So probably a mixed blessing and saved her crashing hypo sooner, harder?
1/21 2U prozince then 1600 EST rush to vet in seizures and then went limp.
BGs at vet 50-30-90-33-30, then sent us to Emergency vet for overnight and next day

Maki was not on insulin from 1/21 to 2/5?

She was switched to Lantus from the AM shot on 2/5?

Then with message board 2/6 down to 1.5U

Patricia, I have added the rows from 1/4 to your spreadsheet. Could you please take a look when you can and update the correct doses of Prozinc and Lantus for the dates before 2/6? I am confused about what the Lantus dosing was from 1/22 to 2/6! Thanks :-)

You may want to bookmark this link in your browser for your SS. This is the link for putting in numbers.

I was trying to read back. Was Lantus started 12/30? If not, when? Is the old ss for 2020 discarded?

No. She was diagnosed in Jan 2021 and started on Prozinc on 1/4. Had a symptomatic hypo on 1/21 and changed by ER vet to Lantus from 1/22. Exact doses I am still not clear about.

Thank you both for narrowing all this down and making it easier for me to follow directions. I will do what you tell me just struggle a bit with time/date/and clarity of readiing words.

Maki is resting happily currently. Going to test in another hour (giving those ears a break). Going to run to town so it's not gettting too late.

@7+ 169

Just bought for LC wet food (please just let me know these are acceptable LC foods):
FF Chick Feast Classic Pate
FF Ocean Whitfish & Tuna Feast Classic Pate
FF Chopped Grill Feast Classic Pate
FF Salmon Feast Classic Pate

For HC Hypo kit I also bought:
FF Gravy Lovers Salmon & Sole Feast
FF Gravy Lovers Chick Feast

All that ok?

I think I would go with 1.25 and see if it’s possible to feed mostly lc. Get a +1. Your ss is blank for me.

It says I need permission to see your ss. Don’t worry right now. Fix after you feed and shoot so you can be on schedule.

I think the pmps is high enough to shoot 1.25. She came up so likely to bounce. It gives us room to try and feed her lc pate. If she starts to go down we can feed mc or hc.

Maki ate 1/2 can FF Ocean Whitefish and Tuna Classic Pate
her 1+ for the evening is 304
I gave her 1.25U Lantus

This is where I get confused? Why she went up after insulin? Did I miss giving it?
Did yiu shoot? Your ss says I need permission.

I gave 1.25U per above.
I tried fixing ss, i don't know how and have re-read instructions and just don't know what I am doing wrong
I'm trying

02/10/2021 312 1.5 210 99 92 259 1.5 231
Begin transition to LC wet. Stopped RC Glycobalance Dry Kibble from 2/11/2021
02/11/2021 212 1.5 116 @+1.5 84 @+2.5 99 @+3.5 93 @+4.5 95 @+5.5 169 273 1.25 304

She went up for two reasons. First she’s bouncing from all the time spent under 100 because she’s not used to being there. Secondly, there’s a food bump. Get a +2.

Don’t worry about the ss. Bhooma will fix it later.

How long until +2?

  1. BG Reading @ PMPS +2 is (201)
  2. PM Dosage = 1.25 units
  3. Fed FF Classic pate PM
  4. Next BG Reading @ AMPS +???
Ketones - My understanding is I must catch fresh urine either in the box, in stream, or on plastic in box. None have worked so far. Any hints on trying some more. So far she had buried the strips I left in box, runs away if I am even in basement while she is in box, and has scratched plastic out of way and went in litter, smarty pants.

I can see the spreadsheet now

Patricia - I know you tried a lot of tricks to get the ketone test. The only way I can do mr kitty is if I clean out a litter box and leave maybe 1/2 cup of litter in one corner. The litter is enough to make him think he's going in a real box, but he doesn't actually hit the litter.

Also, since I know you've been trying to understand the numbers and trends. Elise mentioned the bounce - a bounce is when the BG drops faster or lower than the cat is used to, and their body "panics" and the liver releases sugars to help raise the BG.

In some cats a bounce will clear quickly and they'll be back to regular numbers in 1-2 cycles (12-24 hours). In other cats, it can take a little longer than that.

ok, Will try this tomorrow. She has multiple litter boxes so I will remove those two others and then put only a little in like you suggest.
"The litter is enough to make him think he's going in a real box, but he doesn't actually hit the litter." I thought that might freak her out and she would go hide it somewhere.

"In some cats a bounce will clear quickly and they'll be back to regular numbers in 1-2 cycles (12-24 hours). In other cats, it can take a little longer than that." Thanks, that what I was missing the what her liver does and why it causes the bounce. Thanks for the why. :)

Ok, so now at 201, I test again in +2?
