Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

Amazing - simply amazing. You're right - can any of us do this without he support of this board. Such a phenomenal group of people. I wish you and GirlCat well.

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

Ahhh Lorna, my dear friend.. you have done so well!! I love the hours where we acrobitch, or just acrovent about this acrodosing and acropanic when we don't know what to do and share our acrolove and acrohope and acroprayers for our babies.

It has been so wonderful to be able to dip our oars in the water and make pretend we have half a clue which direction we're supposed to be rowing, and it's been a relief to know you have that other oar. Yours is a wonderful shoulder to lean on. :) You have taught me much, and we have learned much together - it has truly been an unplanned joy to share my journey with yours. I count you as one of my closest friends, and I look forward to gabbin' it up over seafood and adult beverages one day, with our babies at our feet.

I am very proud of you, I know you'll be all "awww STFU" but really, I am deeply proud of you. You've come a long way, baby! :-D

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

(((Lorna))) You're beautiful and amazing - truly!!
I feel very honored to know you and Girlcat!!
Happy Anniversary!!!

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

It ain't easy but it sure is worth it.
There is just too much resistance, and blind refusal to accept what is, so your pioneer type bravery leaves me in awe.
I have to thank my lucky stars for people like Lorna and Carolyn because without their help and guidance, based on firm, solid eye-opening experience, I would have two very, very sick kitties on my hands.

The experiences and knowledge that the two of you have amassed, and all the other acromoms from the past, here in the present, and the many in the future, are priceless. We can't get this stuff elsewhere.

On behalf of Shadoe and Oliver, I thank you so much, from the bottom of our collective heart.

Congrats to GC and I hope she gets some special treats for the annifursary celebration.

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

I just happened to pop into LL today and saw this!
Wow Lorna... just WOW!! I remember some of this. I DEFINITELY remember when JoJo called you at the Vet's office!!

What an incredible journey and what incredible dedication you've shown to Girlcat. Your story is one for the history books of the FDMB for sure!!

Thank you so much for sharing Girlcat's story and for reminding all of us what a truly amazing, inspiring, supportive, wonderful place this is and how lucky we all are to have found each other!

Congratulations on your annifursary Girlcat!! May you have many, many more!!

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

First of all I want to say congratulations on having this anniversary! The vet didn't even think Girlcat would make it two days over the weekend, much less 2 YEARS! That is friggin' amazing how you fought so hard for your kitty and won!

And what a beautiful heartfelt post. It was hard to read about halfway through since my eyes were somehow all full of water.... But I loved reading all your words. I remember when I first saw your dose for GC and thought it was a typo.

Lorna, you are an inspiration to everyone here. (((Many hugs to you!)))

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

Gabby and Girlcat share an anniversary and a similar initiation to FD, although Girlcat's journey took a different turn. Yours is an incredible story of perseverance. I can't imagine what you were saying to yourself as the doses kept creeping up. OMG - 62u BID. Amazing. Hearing Girlcat's adventure in LL makes me proud that we get to bear witness. There are just some amazing kitties and beans that make up this community.

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

I'm glad Girlcat is still hanging in there. She is one tough kitty!

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

You are amazing Lorna (and thanks for the stories you told! I had never heard about the ER visit). You take such good care of the GC. I wish you were around more because you have so much to offer.

Happy anniversary - not of the diabetes diagnosis but in completing another year in your journey.

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

Lorna, I just wanted to let you know that I am very proud of you. What a tough situation I felt you've been in, but you stick it out and you're do an amazing job :-D . I don't know you very well, but I know well enough what a great person you are.
Blessings To You!

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

awwwwww, ((((((Lorna))))) ((((((Girlcat))))

I'm so glad you're here. I'll never forget the ER night either, everyone was on pins and needles waiting for updates. Look how far you've come since then, you have blazed some trails for sure.

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

What a wonderful story, Lorna. Girlcat is certainly a very lucky kitty to have you in her life. You both are fighters...you fought for her and she fought for her life. Truly an inspiring story. So, happy anniversary to you and hats off to two wonderful living creatures!!

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

oh boy, the famous ER night. i'll never forget that night. nailbite_smile
lorna, you are definitely an inspiration for us all. happy anniversary!
hugs and chin sctitches for GC!

Re: 5/26 Girlcat 2 yr Anniversary FD/Acro

what a lovely post lorna. gee, you really made me want to get well so i can come back to posting 16 hours a day (okay strike that, 12 hours), was really nice to know that i could help someone so much. thank you. ((hugs for real)).

oh the night of 8 units of R, remember it so well, (thanks for linking it WCF! loved seeing all the familair old LL kitty faces ), and although after that night we knew that the official acro dx few weeks later was mere formality, really had no idea what dosing paths you guys were going to blazing in future. just saw those blue numbers in link from the cycle before that night, like many acro SS's, GC could pull an okay number early on with way less units than the top 62 units L bid that she needed at top of her dosing scale. thank goodness for the dosing protocol used here, shudder to think of the rounds of needless harmful rebound checks a cat like CG would have been subject to in the not that distant past before the days of LL.
the LL acros ~i call you guys The Second Wave (group of known acros) are such an important group of cats and you and GC are such very special and important members of that group, blazing trails for all future lantus/lev acros. and your humility, you really don't know how amazing YOU are do you? you have BOS that most cannot even imagine owning. down to earth and matter of factly you went up the dosing scale giving GC the insulin she needed always, no matter what size syringe it took. and when she started the great rev down of the century, you rolled right with it. just look at the difference between the tone of your recent posts and the tone of the terrified lorna of the ER night condo. 2 years later, this is the calm cool collected lorna, with knowledge and experience, (and with her extra large dose, late nadir, left alone while mum is at work for long hours cat), who can help others deal with all that is acro. there will be more and more acros joining the ranks here and their owners will be thinking 'what would lorna do?' as they learn to develop their own 'acro-gut'....because lorna does it right.

congratulations on your 2 year anniversary! extra snackus for everyone!
does girlcat know how lucky she is to have you as her owner?
i think she must....
