Weezer cleared her AM bounce yesterday in time to see some yellow by +10, and then returned to yellow again for several hours overnight.

We got a phone report of her senior panel blood work last night. Her BUN is on the high end of normal, but the vet noted that’s not unusual when on a high protein diet. Her cholesterol was 404, high, but the vet note was that she’s not concerned about that at this time. How does that relate to your experience? Everything else was in the normal range. We should get the urine culture and special blood work (iaa & acro) in about a week.

Good morning Linda! I have no answers for you on the BW. When Tarragon was in the hospital the last time, his BUN was high and everything else was normal. They believe he has an ulcer and that is what is raising the BUN. They never mentioned his cholesterol though and he is not on a high protein diet like Weezer.

Hi Linda, wishing you and Weezer a nice day and glad you got some test results. I just checked Maggie's last bw, and she also has high cholesterol and BUN. Her cholesterol was 301 (range 75-220). BUN was 47 (range 14-36). My Vet also wasn't concerned with her cholesterol.

Well - it is a low poink. I see yellow on the horizon... maybe even some blues!

Mannie's cholesterol and triglycerides have always run high... my vet never seems to concerned about them. His BUN usually is OK - but on the higher end or normal. Vet says it is normal for high protein diets. Sounds good so far for Weezer, and i hope the rest comes back OK too.

Sounds like high cholesterol is kinda a normal thing huh? I wish I had Leo's BW in front of me so I could look For you too.

Nice AMPS for Weezer, hopefully she will come down into some nice sunny yellows for you.

Weezer, how about some more yellow today? It would make your mamabean happy!

I don't know if Bailey's ever had her cholesterol checked. I wonder what they would treat it with, you can't give Lipitor to cats, can you?

Glad Weezer's labs are coming back mostly normal so far. Oh, the waiting! I am not good at it. :lol:

Morgaine had extremely high chol. and triglycerides and the vet attributed it to the uncontrolled FD. In humans this is also the case. In morgaine's case, her trigly. were over 1600, way over the norm and she has been on a lower fat diet with slightly higher carbs, now about 6-8%. It has made a considerable difference. I give her a fish oil 1,000 mg daily. but if your vet is not concerned I would put that aside for now. As for BUN, I think there are several reasons for elevation. Morgaine's BUN has been normal and pretty much in the average range.

Hoping Weezer comes down and hangs out for a long time in the lower levels.
 
Moonie had a little higher BUN last time, but vetty said all her bw was good! Her bun was also highend of normal, but not this time! Can these things improve?
Hope Weezer comes down to Yellow today & maybe find his blue numbers soon! Hang in there Linda you are doing a phenomenal job with him!!

Linda, I LOVE the yoga video in Willie's condo. That was one of the funniest things I've ever seen and I was roaring the whole time. Thanks! Weezer, you are one flat cat. Could you and Zener get together and trade some secrets, so you could get a little action and he could calm down? Your beans would really appreciate that. I don't know about the cholesterol. Zener had elevated BUN values that our vet said was due to a "high" protein diet. Isn't it really just a normal protein diet and most cats get a low protein diet?

Trix's chlolesteral is high too (303), and the vet didn't even mention that to me. I just know it's high 'cause I do have her BW in front of me. Some of her kidney values were on the high end of normal, but also the vet wasn't surprised by that. Personally, the whole BW thing confuses the you-know-what outta me!
