Trying to test before bed every night. Seems like he his going lower at night as others predicted and bouncing in AMPS.

hi - i don't think i've "met" whitey before. he's beautiful - love his picture on the profile page. are you ryan?

great job getting a before bed test. because dosing of lantus is based off of the nadir, it's important to see how low a dose is taking a cat. what's your day schedule like? if you had the ability to get even one more test in sometime during the day, in addition to the ones you are already getting, it would really fill out the picture on what's going on in his body. doesn't have to be the same time every day - could be any time during the cycle, but one more would really help.

i think of a spreadsheet like a jigsaw puzzle. you don't have to have every piece to figure out what the picture is, but if you only have the edge pieces it is pretty difficult to make out what you're seeing.

whitey hit the jackpot when you adopted him - lots of people wouldn't bother with a diabetic cat. kudos to you for taking care of his little body!

Yes, Ryan and Whitey here. He was in my life for about 5 years before he was diagnosed but we have been dealing with his diabetes for about 2 years now. Some ups and downs but he's mostly been doing well.

I am lucky enough to work close to home so I can go home for lunch which is usually +5 or +6 after his AM shot. Since I found this forum and learned a lot more about diabetes, I have been making sure to get the pre shot numbers every day and I do try to get a couple of others during the day when I can. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate all the info from the veterans here

sure - there is so much to learn about it, and the people here are great about teaching it. i felt like i'd found a treasure when i landed here with punkin.

just let us know how we can help!

Hi Ryan,

Whitey is just adorable! It is great that your work is close enough that you can run home at lunch if you need to. I can sometimes do that, but not often. It is a great stress reliever if you start the day with a lower than normal number :-D
