Any guesses on what might be going on here? Do I just need to be more patient and let the dental effects show up and its meds clear her system? It seems like we get one cycle of blues after a dose adjustment and then we go right back to mid 200s and flat. Like she just doesn't use the insulin we give.
I had hubby fatten up the dose on Sat to see if it would knock her out of the yellows, and it did, but only for 1 cycle again. Then he thought that staying home to take care of the cat meant taking a nap with her and despite my repeated phone calls he slept through getting any +5-6 numbers so we don't know if she found low greens there again or if the 100 was her low.
I am at a loss for what is going on and she just seems to go sideways. We held the dose this week because we were just off of a dental, on new meds, and just had a 50. So it seemed like a good idea to just leave things alone. My vet doesn't really want to go above 3U.
It would be nice to go a few cycles with only a pre-shot and 1mid-cycle too. Her ears are looking pretty bad right now. Because her blood has been really thin for some reason, and just floods through her hair instead of bubbling up, it can take 2-3 pokes to get a strip properly wetted. I am hoping the weird bleeding thing is after-effects of the dental meds and things go back to normal. But her ears could use a break and with her weird pick-a-cycle-and-drop thing going on, I am afraid I am going to miss something I need to see. I am a single mom this week because my husband is travelling so it will be harder for me to stay home for day time pokes and then go to work while he covers the evening shot so it might just turn out that I can't get in many pokes this week.
It this just a rebound? I don't think it is too much insulin. There has just been no reaction to the insulin. I am on my 3rd pen now switching to see if we just had a bad pen of insulin, I don't think we have a whole bad box.
