12/15 vacation dose

Hi, I'm new to this forum - my name is Emma and my cat Kit was diagnosed a week and a half ago (my new member thread is here ). I am traveling for the holidays and will be out of town for 9 days beginning this Monday 12/19. Due to the recent diagnosis and my preexisting catsitter arrangements, my vet is OK with Kit getting one injection per day in the evenings, at 1 unit per injection.

We are currently on Lantus and I am giving her 1 unit every 12 hours. Her first shot was one week ago on Thursday evening. I'm sure I gave several fur shots that first weekend of learning how to do injections but I think the past couple days have been successful shots. I am away at work during the day so I don't have lots of data for post-shot glucose levels, but I will be running a glucose curve on Saturday and my vet will adjust the dosing as needed.

I just wanted to start this thread in case I need help while I'm away. My parents will the ones giving insulin and they are brand new at giving shots too, so I would expect an occasional fur shot as they learn the technique.

It would be best if they give her .50 or .75 every 12 hours if at all possible even if it means adjusting shot time. I would see how she does until the weekend and if there’s any way to give her shots every 12 hours.
