I know with a history of ketones, you should try not to skip a dose.As the title says
He has a history of ketones, is giving no dose an option? I have an appointment so i cant be home to monitor
Retested for strip error - 106
It supposed to be in 30 minsGlad you retested, that was my first question. Let’s see where he is at in 20 minutes. When is your appointment relative to shot time? Ideally with kitties who have recent history of ketones it’s best not to skip.
99Oh no! I’m sorry!
Good idea with the mc! The only issue I have is that he doesnt care for the mc all that much lol so id need to make sure hel eat it before i shootSo flat…ok how do you feel about giving 0.25u and feeding some MC at shot time? He’s probably at late nadir here, so he’ll trend up, and the MC will help in case you aren’t home until a little later. Depending on when you get home, you can leave some more MC out for him.
Youre so good at thisThat’s about 25% carb, you could blend half of wd with regular food, would give you MC.
.Yes i let him have a little bit, okay off to my appointment late lol will report when i get backI think some insulin is the way to go. And remember, you can still give him a few pieces of kibble if you really want to make sure. Kibble will last longer in his system. He’s sure testing your nerves these days with his late nadirs.ll

Thanks, AllieWhat a stressful morning! I hope he evens out all right.![]()
He was happy he got to eat some kibble againHope Bear is having a safe surf, Vanessa! Eat your snacks Bear!![]()

Okay, we’re home and now i can get my BEARings! LolI think some insulin is the way to go. And remember, you can still give him a few pieces of kibble if you really want to make sure. Kibble will last longer in his system. He’s sure testing your nerves these days with his late nadirs.

I’m glad to hear he’s a happy boy! I was musing this morning when out walking my pup, and really had been hoping we hadn’t taken one too many tools out of the toolbox. Glad his +4 isn’t super high. Today gives you some more insight especially on stalling. Even last time you stalled, he stayed pretty flat, then shot reduced dose, and he went up 45 points with a food bump at +1, stayed in yellows, then came down to blues the next am.
The good news is he seems fairly quick to get back to business, even with a reduced shot. Hoping he doesn’t go too high at PMPS, but since you weren’t going to be around for the several hours, it was the safest thing![]()
. Oh, speaking of, your world SS data looks good, but now you need to manually enter it into the US one. Friskies has some medium carb, although I used to use the Fancy Feast or the Wellness, so I can’t say for sure which varieties we have from this list https://catinfo.org/docs/CatFoodProteinFatCarbPhosphorusChart.pdfWhat % is considered mc and hc? Sorry for all the questions .. this little kitty has fried my brain todayI sure am, waving from Calgary. I forgot, that was one thing I wanted to mention, it takes some time to figure out how carb sensitive your cat is, so that factors in. For some cats, they can get a fair bump up with just higher low carb, but then it also depends on when you are feeding the higher carb food and how much influence the insulin has at that point in the cycle. I used to joke that Maverick’s BG would go up just from the smell of medium carb lol.
Appreciate all your help with thisMy bad, I shouldn’t have assumed you knew. LC is under 10%, MC falls in 10-15% and high carb is above 15%. And no problem about questions, happy to help. Good thing Bear is so darn cute, that allows to create some dust ups now and again![]()
