Sheba has been doing really well ...then last night after she had eaten a small amount of her food and I had given her insulin, she started to vomit several times. I tried waiting then giving her a small amount but she just brought it straight back up. Of course it was Sunday night and I had visions of a visit to the afterhours vet for a cerenia inj.
Fortunately my vet had recently given me a script for some zofran which I filled at the chemist. I gave 2 mg to Sheba last night and it seemed to work well. No more vomiting but I fed her very slowly and small amounts. This morning I gave another zofran 2mg as a precaution before AMPS and waited 20 minutes before feeding. She ate willingly but vomited it all back about 10 minutes later ...after her insulin. She was also very uncomfortable, flopping down on the ground and just staying there....very unlike her.
I was able to get an early appt with the vet....they are very good at fitting her in because she is a diabetic.....
Sheba was very tender in the tummy and growled the entire time she was at the vet....very unlike her...but she was obviously in pain. No temp. Looks like it is the pancreatitis rearing its ugly head again.
So vet gave her a cerenia inj and a bupe inj and some subcut fluids. I am to ring back this afternoon if she is no better.
The vet has just moved to new premises...much bigger...and they now have a cat waiting room and a dog waiting room as well as separate rooms for them inhouse.
We have been home from the vet 2 hours and the drugs have kicked in......Sheba is asking for food and not vomiting and is behaving more like her usual self. Hope it continues......
